I've lived here 10 years and lived in 2 units. The first one, on the south side, had an annoying floor plan, and within a few months I moved over the the north side to a truly lovely apartment. I had the first "occupied renovation" on the property and they did a very good job. I love the maintenance guys, previously headed by Jim, and now by Gino, they do a wonderful job taking care of whatever has needed attention always the same day or next day, and even occasionally on the weekends. Robert has also helped me out a lot. As the buildings get a bit older, the air conditioning needs periodic attention, but I've only had to spend the night elsewhere one night in 10 years, and they reimbursed me for that (deducted from the next month's rent). That incident had more to do with the on-call guy having limited English skills rather than an unfixable problem--he went to the wrong unit and didn't find me in a timely manner, so I stayed at a friend's house until the office opened in the morning. There was one noise issue in 10 years and they took care of that quickly (new person moved in with a DRUM SET). One of the office girls even volunteered to help me medicate my cat with pain meds for a few days (many years ago) when I had to work 13 hour shifts quite a distance away. (My aunt lives across the street and tried to help me, but she didn't have the heart to force feed the pain meds after my cat got hit by a car.) The only issue I have had is that every year they have wanted to increase the rent. They will negotiate down a bit, but 10 years of $10-$80 per year increases over 10 years finally priced me out of the complex. It's a shame, because my same floor plan is advertised at $110 less per month than what I'm paying and they could have kept me as a renter if they'd keep their prices to market values for Tempe. I know the next renter will love my apartment and will enjoy a lesser rent. I can't comment on check out and deposit refunds yet as I just gave my 60 day notice last night.
