Resident 2013 - 2014

4/16/2014

With every bad experience, I've tried giving these people the benefit of the doubt by assuming it was just a one-time thing and that their management would get better should there be a "next time." Hope you're prepared to read this because tonight was the last straw for me. With the countless issues I've had here, I'm going to outline a few because they are my favorite examples of why nobody should live here. Last night my sink randomly flooded my entire kitchen. I called the office this morning and talked to the only person in management that actually cares about residents, Erin, and asked for a maintenance request because it was an emergency. I came home from work to my cabinets open and a plunger sitting next to my kitchen sink, but the problem had still not been resolved. Thinking that maybe it could just be clogged or something that was our fault, I went to the store and bought 2 large bottles of Drain-o, came home and filled both sides of the sink. That still not resolving the problem, I called and asked if the maintenance guy could come back and finish fixing it, which they said was no problem and that he "should be there shortly." Three hours passes and he literally doesn't even show up. It's now 9:30 at night and every time the upstairs neighbor uses their water, my sink starts overflowing with disgusting liquid. I called the apartment hotline literally ten times and every time it prompts you to press a number all you hear is "invalid option" with an immediate hang up following it. The emergency maintenance line doesn't work, the message option doesn't work so I can't even leave management a message telling them that because their maintenance guy didn't show up, I now have a lake in my kitchen. I am quite literally wearing boots in my kitchen (because any other shoe would not suffice to keep my feet from getting disgusting) and filling buckets with water because there is so much of it and nobody in this apartment complex can help because the office just so happens to be closed and that is THE ONLY way you can get ahold of anyone (depending on if they actually answer the phone.) Here's another fun example: About a month ago there was a death in my immediate family and my sister had to fly across the country to try to help out with the funeral. She would only be gone for a maximum of 3 days, so i didn't see the issue with watching her animal while she was away in an obviously extreme case. A day later I get an eviction notice on my door saying that if I don't pay a fine of $175 and remove the animal immediately, I will be removed from the property. When calling management, (which, by the way is a Godsend if they ever actually answer.) I was put on the phone with 3 people who are obviously incapable of human emotion. Erin tried to help me work something out but they still didn't drop the fee, which I thought was pretty ridiculous considering it's a death in the family and not a permanent situation. Keep in mind that I'm the only other family member in Arizona, a full time student and have a full time job. I've never been late on rent and never had any issues on my end with Solara. Or here's a nice one if you enjoy cops! They are here every. single. night. Normally I would think "Oh, I'm a young girl, I like having a police officer around in case something bad ever happens." Not in this apartment complex. When you don't have sketchy people following you home when you're working out at night then banging on your door at 3 in the morning and leaving creepy notes (yes, this literally happened), you have cops raiding your next-door neighbor, complete with full body armor and riot shields! It makes you feel REALLY at home. Because who wouldn't want to come home from a long day at work to that, right? THEN when you call the office to ask what the hell is going on, they say "oh, someone couldn't get into their apartment and it was a safety issue." I'm just going to stop right there, because obviously you guys get the point. I can't even go into every time they've managed to piss me off because this would be way longer than it is now. I'm done. I know it seems nice because it's affordable and you can take the orbit to campus, but please just do yourself a favor and spare the hair-tearing out by not moving in. It's not in a nice neighborhood. You will literally be so upset with your decision, and this is coming from someone who literally waited a year before writing a bad review because I wanted to see the good in this complex. I'm sorry if I put a damper in your apartment-seeking process but I wish I had taken the reviews before me more seriously.
