Resident 2003 - 2004

8/2/2013

Do not live at ANY Worthwhile Management Property! They're awful! Management is not simply rude, but treats you like chattel. Maintenance used to just pop in as they felt like it, even after I started calling the police. They didn't speak English, nor could they at least provide something written in English to explain their presence. "You spicky spanny?" was all he would say, with a huge grin. The first day that I called the police, it was because my washer and dryer were missing, along with a toolbox full of household tools, an amount of cash that I had hidden, and my TELEPHONE! The telephone coming up missing terrified me, because it said to me that they'd be back and didn't want me to call for help. I had to go to the pay phone at Winn Dixie to call the police. The second time was Mr "You spicky spanny?". The third was some maintenance man who admitted that he was there for my dining table. I'm not sure if he thought I was another plunderer or what. Oh, and if you have to call the police, make sure you ask for a supervisor. The first time I had to call, until the supervisor got there, the LCSO deputies who had responded ORDERED me to accompany them to the rental office, so that we could find out "how this is your (my) fault". His tune changed fast after the supervisor got there. When we got down to the rental office to explain how it was *management's* fault, I demanded that, in the future, I be given notice of entry, and that whomever they send ought to be able to explain his presence in *clear* English. Instead of taking the high road and apologising, management accused me of being racist, an accusation the LCSO deputy quickly quelled. They said it is my right to know why someone is in my home in a language I understand. The third time I had to call the police on them, they had changed managers from the -------- woman to some huge African man. He was overbearing and rude nearly to the point of abusiveness. He caused me to just want to leave. I went to the office and told him I was done, lease or no lease, and gave him his keys. I come to find out that several month later, he put me through an eviction, and I had already been gone for months! I was never informed of the court action and, even if I had been, Florida does not allow a tenant to just show up in court and fight the eviction. The tenant has to pay to the court whatever the landlord feels he is owed *first*. Then you may have your "day in court". As I understand it, though, Florida rent courts usually side with whichever party has more money, unless the poorer party really has a good case. The wealthier party, for those not keeping up, would be the landlord. Long story short, stay away! The real thugs are in the rental office!
