Resident ā€¢ 2010 - 2011

3/6/2011

Parking: The parking here is cramped, so it becomes fairly difficult to drive through the complex. There are plenty of resident parking spot, but guest parking is difficult to find, especially on the weekends. Visitors usually have to park on campus and walk to the community. There is virtually nowhere to park without being under a tree. The tree drops some type of sap on your car which is extremely difficult to remove. Maintenance: Maintenance answers requests within 24 hours. My roommate had a leak in his roof while it was raining at one time. The fish tank on the second floor spilled water on the ground, dripped through the tile, and my roof leaked as a result. The water in my shower never stays warm for more than 5 minutes. The dishwasher does a poor job of cleaning the dishes. Construction: There is generally no construction occurring here. I think that the basketball courts are being repaved soon. The apartments are poorly constructed and look nothing like the floor model they show you. Noise: I know that noise is a major issue for most college living apartments complexes, but I have never had an issue with noise since I've been here. If there were some noise issues, there residents were pretty courteous about turning down the noise. Grounds: The complex is kind of dreary and there isn't that much green space. There are lots of cats and raccoons. The pool and hot-tub are kept clean and the garbage is taken out daily. The garbage pick-up is right outside of the door. Safety: The lighting in the neighbor is poor and it can be a bit scary walking through the complex at night. There have never been any direct threat issues, gunshots, fights, etc..., but there were a few car break-ins. The gate doesn't work for more than a few days at a time and I suppose this can be a security issue, but for the most part the neighborhood is relatively safe. Overages: I have had an overage charge every month since I've lived here. We are allotted a $40.00 cap per person. From Dec 12 to Jan 12, my overage charge was $60 per person, which did not make sense because all of my roommates went home for the Christmas vacation. We kept the air condition off, turned off all the appliances before we left, and switched to high efficiency appliances and that still didn't stop the overage charges. Office Staff: The office staff are courteous, polite, and respond quickly to requests. Overall, On50 Apartments is an "Alright" place to live. After overage charges, I ended up paying about $500.00 a month. I may as well had lived somewhere else for that price. The fact that it is close to campus is nice and the office staff and maintenance are very friendly, but I'm choosing not to live here again because I couldn't live comfortably because I constantly had to worry about mt electric bill.
