Resident ā€¢ 1996 - 2007

4/16/2008

I lived in Sterling Woods for 11 years. The management changed several times while I was there. Some were good, some were not so good, some were great. Contrary to some opinions, I thought Judy was just wonderful. Judy did hold activities such as pool parties and skylight cinemas. We did have some issues with a nosy neighbor who issued bogus complaints about our household, but that was 'straightened out' between management, the nosy neighbor, and me. We also had some issues, though minor with residents parking in the handicapp spaces, which I needed for a disabled parent. Neither management, the courtesy officer, nor the local law enforcement seemed to want to handle the issue. But we solved the problem by talking with neighbors. There was an occasional problem with bugs, especially ants, but who in Georgia doesn't have issues with those pesky black ants? I found my own solution for that, and was actually 'ant-free' for the last three years of my residence there. The new maintenance people under The Pointe were very friendly and helpful. I've had problems with the stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator, and management supplied us with new appliances. I do feel that the complex should include washers and dryers in the lease like the old Sterling Woods. One complaint I do have is the water bills, which can run too high. Also, it would help if the complex found a place to install a play area for children. There was a huge problem with kids playing in the parking lot, which could never seem to get under control. For the price it charges for rent, The Pointe should include a play area and a car-wash facility. Overall, I found Sterling Woods(The Pointe) to be convenient to local businesses, recreation(nice walking trail and YMCA next door), scenic(the landscaping is very nice), peaceful and secure (minimal noise) and the rent somewhat reasonable(although I feel the one bedrooms are too expensive for many single people on fixed incomes to afford). The neighbors were also very friendly. A big plus was that the complex refunded 100% of my security deposit, and the manager who was at the 'walk-through' was very nice. If I could afford it, I would probably consider moving there again.
