Resident 2009

6/17/2009

I was dubbed, like so many others, in thinking that the apartments at Ashford Park were a step above the rest. I was also very impressed by the gentleman that showed me the apartment, Antonio, and felt that he s professionalism reflected that of Ashford Park. But, I was wrong Two weeks after I moved in, the water had been cut out twice! And not just for me, but my entire building and then the entire apartment. They tried to repair this quickly, but the second time took over 24 hours to repair. Crazy! Since living here (4-5 months) the water has been shut off 4 times! My last apartment that I lived out was older than Ashford and I lived there for 2 years and this NEVER happened. Secondly, if you enjoy your sleep on a weekday night, don t move to Ashford Park. I cannot even begin to count how many times I have been awoken at around 2-3am on a WEEKDAY by drunks screaming in the parking lot. The majority of the tenants that I have seen here are young (early 20s) and most of them I see are wearing server/bartender outfits. Most appear to enjoy partying after their shifts and have NO common courtesy for those who hold a 9-5 job. One month after moving into Ashford Park, I was awoken at 3:00am on a Thursday to a man attempting to beat down his ex-girlfriend s door for about 30 minutes. He screamed at the top of his lungs and called her every name in the book. Shouting matches are also not uncommon at Ashford Park. Those who are attempting to sleep try to fight fire with fire and just cause more commotion. Yes, they have upgraded the interior of the apartments, and I m sure they do look a bit better; however other aspects should have been updated. Besides the water main issues, my AC has broken 3 times now. Each time I get a It s low on Freon instead of them attempting to figure out WHY I keep leaking out Freon, they just fill it back up only to return in a month for the same problem. Break-ins are frequent here and I ve gotten about 4-5 memos about them and stating that Dunwoody cops will watch the complex more closely. I ve never seen ANY. The best: I was walking my dog one night and as I exited the elevator to the parking garage there was a group of six guys standing in the middle of the parking garage smoking pot. I couldn t believe it! Then, as I approached (because I had to walk right past them to walk my dog) it appeared that something (or someone) had urinated on the ground near where they were standing. As I got closer, none of them made ANY attempt to hide what they were doing. I was very afraid because it was apparent that they had NO issues breaking the law for all to see. As I passed, they made an offensive remark about me and commented on my dog (who is an expensive breed and have been known to be stolen so they could be sold). That s when I knew I wanted OUT of that place ASAP! I ve had three people attempt to open my door late at night and then walk to the next door and try the same thing (I watched them from the peep hole). Lastly, the walls are super thin and you can hear EVERYTHING! One night my neighbor was on speaker phone with a friend and I could hear even what her FRIEND was saying. Please do NOT move into Ashford Park or you will regret it!
