Resident

3/26/2012

I have lived in The Darlington for 10 months now and will not renew my lease when it is up. Tribridge IS definitely making efforts to improve the place (the lobby used to look like the rest of the hallways- it looks less like apartments and more like a run-down hotel), but my overall experience has not been suitable for my lifestyle. 1. The location is great. I think that is a given... You literally will not find a single apartment in this same price range in the area. 2. There is ample, unassigned parking at no charge to residents. Spaces are very close together (other people will hit your car with their doors & not care) and the it is not well lit. After witnessing and hearing about some of the crime here I do not always feel safe walking to my car alone at night (I am a 20's female, I live here with my boyfriend). 3. The other residents are a pretty mixed bag. Seriously, I have lived all over the place with all income levels and ethnicities- that is not the issue. The issue is the lack of respect the residents have for each other & the building. Prime example- mgmt painted the elevators and actually tried to make them look nice, but within 12 hrs someone had tagged the new paint. 4. Men use the elevators/parking lot as a dating service, for real. Unless I am with my boyfriend, I can NOT get from my apartment to my car without getting hit on at least once. I will gladly smile and say hi, but dudes don't understand that just being friendly to your neighbors, not flirting. 5. Maintenance is good- they fix problems in a timely manner and come immediately for emergencies (even if its not an EMERGENCY EMERGENCY- my oven was broken but the guy came at 11:00pm when I called instead of the next day). The office staff at least makes an effort to pretend to care. 6. There is crime. There are drugs. There are roaches everywhere. There is trash all over the place. People are rude. Some old lady smokes in the laundry room and then calls you a racist cracker when you ask her not to. The hallways reek of pot. But you know what, this is a high rise building in Atlanta, and you are paying DIRT CHEAP PRICES. You truly get what you pay for, and you can't expect much more for that price. If they jacked up their prices & fixed up the units, I am CERTAIN all the sketchy people would move right out and the whole place would improve. Meanwhile, it is what it is.
