Resident ā€¢ 2012

9/30/2012

My husband and I have been here since July of 2012, and we can't wait until the lease ends. We were desperate to find a decent apartment near our newly gained jobs so I admit we rushed without really weighing in on this complex. From first glance it seems decent, but once you become a tenant it changes. We pay on average $900.00 a month for a 2/2 and it is not worth it. 1: The office staff is never available. ------- are the two busiest people I have ever seen, and they are never available to answer your questions or concerns via phone. You have to go to the office to address any and everything. ------ to my me and my husband. When we moved in on a Saturday we could not get the utilities transferred to our name until Monday, but she said it was ok to move in because the utilities were in the apartments name and we just had to watch our water, gas and electricity usage until everything was transferred because the first bill would come from them. We said ok and barely touched the water, ordered take out the entire weekend and used very little light. All of the bills ended up being under $34.00. ------ failed to mention that any bill over $15.00 would result in a penalty fee of $50.00, and our electric bill was $34.00. Also, as we were scheduled to move into the apartment and we did our overall check ------, we came into the apartment and the air conditioner was set at 50 degrees, all the lights were on and the dishwasher was running on that same Saturday that we moved in. Coincidence? Nope thieves. 2. You have to pay your rent online now, and the website is always down or unavailable right around rent time. You only have three days to get the rent paid, and we called to get the issue fixed and they do not respond. The late fee is 30 dollars by the way. 3. Because it is near the woods there is a very bad bug problem, and you rarely see maintenance people spraying the area. Thank God we moved in and the majority of our time will be spent in the winter with few bugs. Also if you are very clean and your neighbors are nasty, their insect infestation will leak into your apartment. 4. It is only me and my husband we both work 40 hours a week and are rarely in our apartment, but because the entire complex share a water meter, the water is divided by number of rooms and tenants. We pay and average of $70.00 a month for water when we only use about $30.00. 5. The walls are paper thin. We stay on the walk-in level with a family of 4 living above us. I wish I could put a recording of this website for you to hear this family, but we can hear everything. All night and early morning this family stomps around the apartment. The kids never go outside to play, they run in the apartment. The ---------------------------- has moved a TV outside and watches it while smoking weed on the patio. The woman just yells all day. It was peaceful for about a month until they moved in. UUUggghhh, and these apartment walls are unforgiven as we hear it all. 6. Within two months, we put in about 3 maintenance orders to have our dishwasher fixed. 7. The gym is hardly a gym. With a treadmill, elliptical and stair master in a 8x8 room. The laundry room is filthy with no coin dispenser and small washers and dryers. There is no business center. 8. There are tons of kids in this complex who crowd the entrance before and after school when the bus drops them off without any regards to the entering and exiting cars. The lazy parents also park their vehicles in the entrance because they do not want to walk their kids to the bus stop. 9. On Sunday Sept. 29, my husband and I woke up to a subtle noise. That noise was the ceiling in our second bathroom rotting away as a water leak from the upstairs apartment and dripped down into our bathroom. I considered it a flood, and called emergency maintenance. They did not respond until 10AM this morning Sept.30. I then called the fire department, which had the tenants upstairs shut their water off. The said that the water has been leaking for a while and they put in a maintenance order but it has not been fixed. Maintenance told my husband an elaborate story about how the new voicemail system did not allow him to hear our voicemail until the morning, and when he came to the apartment he didn't call he just let himself inside yelling "maintenance". After waking us he told us he could not help us today and would be back on Monday Oct. 1, 2012. This is the last and final straw. If anyone can tell me how to get out of this terrible lease without too many financial penalties please respond. I am five months pregnant and looking to have my son in Feb, and I do not want him to be in such a filthy place for the first five months of his life.
