Resident ā€¢ 2002 - 2003

9/25/2003

The insides of the apartments are nice. Crown moulding, attractive fixtures and newer appliances, nice carpet, good paint. But the complex has gone from ok to not so great in the past year. When I first moved in, the office staff was extraordinarily friendly and they seemed to care about you, I even received a welcome package when I moved in. Now, I just avoid the office at all costs. Some of the staff act like they could care less about your problems and IĀ“ve even had to go "hunting" around the office to FIND someone, and when I did, I found 2 people just sitting around in the back office... they tried to give me a hard time about my alarm system which I had been trying to get the code for since I moved in they said theyĀ“d let the manager know about the problem was I was having, yet never did. I went to the office about 5 times just to trying to get the alarm code, to no avail... so yes, if you move in... you have an alarm in some apartments, but NO you wont be able to use it because they dont know the code and are not willing to find it out or get somebody to reset it.
The quality of tenants they are starting to lease to is also decreasing. Apparently, they lease out their apartments to DeVry University which is right across the street. Now, I have no idea if they just let the students move right in or what. I often wonder if they even do credit checks anymore (it was extremely thorough when I moved in over a year ago). Many nights (and days) IĀ“ve been startled by the sound of thumping car radios or squealing tires and sometimes there are people just "hanging out" in the parking lot which is starting to become more and more frequent. And donĀ“t even get me started on the gates and the tenants who stand out by the access box and wave all of their noisy friends through. When I first moved in, I found on the internet, that there was a convicted sexual offender that lived in the complex as well. I think he has since moved out.

I have to say that the new maintenance guys are really nice and will get out to you fairly quickly. The pool is fairly nice, when it is clean. The workout room is nice, but then again, with the high quality tenants living there - somebody stole some of the free weights/dumbells recently, something that never happened until this year.

Also, WARNING, read your lease carefully, you MUST give a 60 day notice if youĀ“re moving out, REGARDLESS of whether or not your lease is up. If your lease is up May 31 you MUST tell them BEFORE the first day of the next month, so donĀ“t come in there April 1 or 2 and say youĀ“re moving out! Tell them in MARCH that you are moving out in May or they will make you pay FULL market price for 2 months from the day you tell them. Bottom line, the sooner the better. ItĀ“s a huge hassle.

Summary: nice apartments with some good deals for rent discounts, good upkeep of the grounds, fairly decent safetly level (I never felt threatened), nice pool area and club house area, car wash station, friendly and helpful maintenance staff.

Uncaring staff attitude, 60 day move out notice, low quality of tenants moving in, car stereo systems and tire squealing, loitering, no alarm system.
