I have lived here two years and can tell you that there is a big difference now from back then. The area not Buckhead, it's DeKalb. That being said, I couldn't find 1200 square feet for under $800 in other areas. This place is huge so I get that they can't police everyone all the time, but I keep my doors locked and haven't had a problem. Plenty of parking and the staff is WAY better than before. Not the nicest place ever, but biggest bang for your buck I could find.
