Resident 2011 - 2014

2/20/2014

I have lived at Shade Tree Trace for 3 years now and things are starting to really irritate me so it is time to write a review. I have always felt safe in this complex and have generally had good neighbors. The space is very large for the price paid and I do appreciate that. My problems begin with poor insulation around our sliding glass doors where I can actually hear the wind blowing through the cracks. I could actually see sunlight through the side frame when we first moved. Maintenance adjusted them but there is always still a draft and our energy bill is very expensive every month for a one bedroom apartment. Secondly, we had ants in the kitchen one summer, and we have seen recurring roaches although we are clean residents that do not leave food out on the counters or such. It disgusts me to see pests when I try my hardest to keep things extremely clean. I have to commend that I do not encounter spiders often except for our wooden balcony in the fall. The biggest issues began this year, our water heater ran for a week straight and we couldn't figure out what was wrong, called maintenance and they said there was nothing wrong with it, then it began doing so again so I had to call maintenance back and they seemed to have fixed the problem but then my energy bill came and it was TRIPLE the usual amount for the month and they would do nothing about it. It is extremely frustrating to pay over $300 for energy for a one bedroom apartment. Lastly the worst issue has been the recent groundskeeping after a snowstorm. I gave them the benefit of the doubt a few days after it happened but it has now been a week out from the storm and It is ridiculous that there is no snow or ice removal in front of our building where the sidewalk meets the parking lot, it is impossible to get onto the parking lot from the sidewalk with the mound of snow blocking it. Then if you try to use the handicap area it is nothing but a sheet of ice that I fell on yesterday just trying to find a way to my car. There is not one bit of salt or sand that has been laid and it is dangerous and irresponsible of Henderson Webb to let the complex this way.It is just inexcusable when our building is one of the accessible buildings, it should be one of the first to present a safe walkway for those that are handicapped. The parking lot itself has been a mess with sheets of ice with no salt or sand and the plow did not even show up until 12pm the day AFTER the snow fell. I have never seen such inattentiveness to residents by a management company as I have during this recent snowstorm.
