Where do I begin? My husband and I moved to Owings Mills in June 2005 from another state. At the time, Red Run was amazing. Their prices were within our range (at the time) and the staff was helpful and nice. We had a limited amount of time to find a place and this was the best apartment we saw. There was plenty of room, a great location, great layout, etc. Then about a year later, the management changed. Everything went downhill. Prices went up and for what reason? It's not like they replaced any appliances. I do not appreciate the lawn mowers starting every Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. Hello!! Some people are still asleep! We did have one mouse one winter. I will never again eat strawberry granola bars. Management has never acted on our complaints. The people living above us were extremely loud. During the time we lived there, there were three different families in the apartment above us. Let me just say this, families with children should never be allowed to live on the top floor. They are extremely loud and very disrespectful. Over Memorial weekend 2007, we went out of town and came back to our entry way ceiling drenched with water. All of our food in our pantry was soaked, and my wedding picture on the wall was completely ruined. I had to stay on the maintenance staff to fix the problem. All they did to fix the wall and ceiling was paint over it. They should have ripped out the wall to avoid molding, but that didn't happen. Come to find out, the people above us knew their carpet was wet but didn't bother to let maintenance know about it. Finally this situation was resolved. The reason my husband and I moved out of Red Run was because he accepted a new job in our home state. Because of this, we weren't able to give a 60 days notice. We had two weeks to pack our stuff and move across the country. I specifically spoke with the manager of Red Run because of the experience we had with other staff members. She and I were under that same agreement. We would owe one month's rent to break our lease (okay, understandable, we knew we would owe something), then we would still be responsible for the 60 days. Very simple to understand. I'm not really sure where it all went wrong for the staff members, but we received a statement in the mail shortly after we moved out saying we owed over $2000 for insuffient notice of moving out. In the end we came out on top because this place has complete idiots working for them. We have no idea where they got our total amount due but it was $300 less than it should have been so we paid it and were done with it. We never had any parking problems because we paid for our parking spots. It was $25 a month per car and we always had a reserved spot. It beats messing with the hassle of trying to find a parking spot or scrapping ice and snow off your car in the winter. One more thing, everytime there was a change happening to the community, there was never any notice. The first time we received a statement in the mail saying our water bill and rent was $$$$, we freaked! The management couldn't understand why they received so many phone calls about this statement. Well, hello, if they just sent out a letter to everyone saying these are the changes that will be happening in the near future, they could have eliminated the phone calls. It's called being proactive. These people are idiots. As for the helicopters and the car fire, yes they are true. There were also several muggings while we lived there, however I never felt unsafe. Our storage unit was broken into and they stole our microwave and my husband's bike, but not my bike. That's all on my rant. I would not recommend living here.
