Resident 2010 - 2011

9/7/2011

Pros and Cons... you decide.

I live here, it will be one year at the end of the month. Apartment information:: There are 6 buildings in the complex, all are 2 story buildings. 1-3 bedrooms, and some apartments have balconies, others have patios, and some have neither. No washers/dryers in unit or hookups, there's one laundry facility with 10 washers and 10 dryers for the whole complex and they are coin-op. Pets are allowed for an additional deposit, and there are no smoking regulations. So tenants can smoke inside their unit, outside their unit, and anywhere on the grounds except the leasing office and the laundry room. There's parking located along the front and the two sides of the complex, undercover parking for an additional monthly fee, the rest is resident parking only and not assigned, guests must park on the street. The Cons about this complex: -The windows REALLY need to be replaced SO badly. They let off horrible drafts because they aren't sealed properly and they are single paned. And on top of the draft we can also hear very clearly cars going by and people talking as they walk past. So in the summer all the cold air is let out and the hot air seeps in, and vise-versa in the winter. -The people who live above us stomp with every step and listen to their music at ALL hours of the night and day with a loud sub, causing the base to shake our windows and even hurts our ears. -Parking really does suck, the spots are all resident only and are first-come-first-serve, many people park on the streets. And what's very frustrating is that one of the leasing agents who lives on site, has 2 spots in the carport for their ONE car, parking right in the middle of the two. -I really wished they would set a rule where smokers had to be at least 100 Ft. away from the apartment windows and doors as they smoke, we are a non-smoking family, and our unit is sandwiched between all smokers. Some smoke inside others outside, either way the smell leaks through the terrible windows and you know what's even stranger is that it even goes through the pluming! no joke. If we go into our bathroom and open the cabinet under the sink, we're hit with a wall of --- smoke. same thing in the kitchen.it's really gross. -They really need a limit on how many laundry room machines that can be used at one time by a single unit. There's been at least 7 occasions where there's been one lady doing 8 or 9 loads at one time, taking up 3/4 of the machines, leaving other people waiting around or forcing them to leave and come back later. The Pros: -Nice apartment layout, I like how the kitchen is tucked away and covered by a wall and un-seen when you first walk in the door, especially when family unexpectedly stops by. -The on-site maintenance guys are very prompt and do the job well, we've had them replace our shower head, fix a leaky sink, fix the light above the sink, etc. -The laundry room is well maintained and clean. -They allow you to paint in your unit as long as you paint it white again when you move out (although we haven't just cause it'll be a pain to do and don't want to risk getting even the slightest drop on the carpet) -They have a small playground and pool for the residents, which is better than nothing. Anyway, overall it's ok I guess, it might be more worth it for you to pay a little extra and go somewhere a bit better. I'd probably only recommend it to my friends who are on a tight budget and just starting out.
