Resident 2004

4/8/2004

Probably best to find a spot somewhere else.

Well, by reading all of this, I realize that there are some people who must have never left their rooms to see that FG is in a horrible neighborhood. That in itself isn't management's fault, but, I'm sure potential tenants need to know what kind of area they would come in to.

I have a real feeling by the wording and otherwise that a staffer or PAID supporter of the apartment has been making posts positively supporting the apartment and attacking the claims of former tenants who have truly had bad experiences with the apartment. Now really, who else would be familiar with the building's obscure web site address?

As for my own experience, it was horrible. Yeah, the neighborhood is horrible. Yes, while the manager and property owner are amiable folks, and some neighbors are friendly and warm, there are also the bad eggs.

We did witness several drug deal-type things, and we did have to call 9-1-1 a few times. The management never addressed the matter for those of us who couldn't attend the little Neighborhood Watch meetings.

I can remember the "gang fight" back in late March/early February, where a bunch of drunk kids were kicking a girl on the ground, hitting her with beer bottles. She was dragged into a car, and everyone speeded off.

There was even a time where I was driving to go to nearby Fred Meyer, and I almost hit a rough-looking guy in his car, completely by accident. The guy was waiting for me outside of the store after I was done, and after I lost him in the neighborhood, he circled the apartment complex, pausing by my car.

I called the police, but they only circled the parking lot twice, and left. Never stopped the guy.

We just never felt safe. There was another scary late night where a drunk driver slammed into the wall that separates FG from La Casa Mesa next door. If he would have missed by just a few feet, he would have hit cars in the parking lot, or the first floor apartments.

I did close the doors many times when coming home at night to upkeep security, but the point is, they were always propped open. The buidling needs to invest in a security guard or something.

Mold was horrible, too. We can't afford to run our heat. Management has the responsibility either to pay for us to heat our apartment, or to remove the mold or to do SOMETHING. Don't let THEIR inadequately ventilated rooms punish US. Something to keep in mind too before moving in.

On the plus side, the pool was nice, the rent was low, and the front room was nice ... but NO WHERE NEAR worth all the horrible experiences.

I respect all of you who have liked your time there, but, to be honest, they sound like older people who don't leave the room much. These things have happened to some of us... don't try to tell us they didn't.

Vancouver is a great place, but this is probably the worst neighborhood in town. You'd think more cops would be around...

SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE
