Resident 2011 - 2013

7/11/2013

I lived here for about a year and a half and I would recommend that you live basically anywhere else. The rent seemed reasonable for the area, but what a nightmare. Here are a handful of ways that we were screwed over during our stay: -Prior to move-in, we were lied to about there being a walk-in closet. My ex signed the papers and when i went in to see the apartment oh, no closet. I confronted the woman who had told me this, she said "oh that's too bad.", and I'm sure she put me on a list or something, because she made sure to be horrible to us while we lived there. -The trash was always overflowing, always. -Every time someone moves, they recarpet and reseal/repaint everything. I was told that several apartments share ventilation systems, which is why every few months there was raucus 6am recarpeting noise and a strong, dizzying chemical stench for about a week. -They do tow cars for fun, and it's very expensive. Be careful. -They will make you feel bad for asking to have anything fixed/looked at. The maintainance guys are great, I'm just assuming the 12 year old girls running the desks don't know how to fill out a work order. -Parking is a nightmare. Each unit gets 1 spot only and you better hope you are near a lot of open parking, or no one will want to walk 1/4 mile to your door in the summer. -Dog areas. We had a dog and were religious about waste removal. Others were not, and the complex didn't think it necessary to clean up after those less responsible pet owners. Ever. So it sits and gets disgusting. They even tell you when you get a pet, no one maintains the dog areas. -Pot. I smelled pot allllll the time. People smoked it in their garages, smoked it while hopping the walls, I even saw a young man just taking a stroll with a blunt in his mouth. Not great if you have kids. Don't break the leases. It's 3 months rent and a $1200 fee. If you must live there, get as short a lease as possible because I guarantee you will want to get out. Leaving the apartment- as I mentioned I was told by the complex that whenever a tennent moves out EVERYTHING is recarpeted, resealed and repainted. They actually told me this, then when we moved, charged us $1200 for the recarpeting. It took 3 months to talk them down to $1000. I have lived in many apartments, these were easily the worst. Uninformed staff in general, and I never thought I would be the sort of person who would say this, but yes, they will try to screw you over at every turn.
