Resident 2011 - 2012

5/26/2012

I lived at Bell Cove from September 2011- April 2012. After a month of living there I found out I was pregnant and was so sick and out of it I no longer could even stand to cook for my 5yr old son and myself and barely cooked before. Because of this I would go to my moms to make sure me and my son ate something since when i got home all I wanted to do was crash. Anyway when I moved out because I found a better apartment and was making much more money, I was told that in 14 days I would get a breakdown in the mail and whatever is left of my $200 security deposit (which I believe was $250 when I moved in, but I dont have my receipt from the money order). I called in 3the weeks later to check on the status and was told they are still working on it. I called again every week and left messages but never got a call back. I work m-f 9-6 so its hard to make it during the week when i was told is the time the property managers who handle that are in after calling just 2wks ago. Finally I get mail from them on May 23rd over a month after i left thinking it was what left of my security deposit since my mother and her husband cleaned the apartment thoroughly after I had everything moved out since I have had a difficult pregnancy and could not do the work myself. I did the walk through afterwards and everything was better than when I moved in. Anyway its a breakdown of the charges one of them being $135 for cleaning of the fridge, stovetop, and interior of the oven. I rarely cooked especially actually putting something inside the oven. The only thing that could have been an issue was the drip pans because those are difficult to fully clean. I went down there just today even though its the weekend i was going down there to speak somebody about the crap they sent me with a left over balance of $14 they had the audacity to want me to pay. When me and my mother walked in there and asked about the cleaning charge, we were told was that its mandatory fee charged to everyone for cleaning. That was not even in my lease. They calculated everything in order to make sure all of my security deposit would be eaten up. I really couldnt believe it. After much questioning the man admited he had only been there for 4 days and was a new assistant manager and we would need to talk to the property manager. Another issue was that they dated the letter April 3rd but the post mark on the envelope was for May 17th and in the letter they gave me 30days to pay the balance or it would be sent to collections. My mother had been a cosigner on the apartment and asked for them to give her contact info to the property manager since I get off late and she is off much earlier than me. Hopefully we get a call back. All this on top of the maintenance office taking almost a week to come out to fix the broken water heater that leaked into my apartment carpet when I moved in. Every issue I have had there took multiple calls and the need for me to leave a forceful message just to get someone out. My dryer kept breaking because somehow the screw in the interior back of the dryer would come out and it would be a loud bang and it would stop. Took multiple calls to get someone out a week or so later only to have them screw it back in and for it to do the same thing after one load. I called agaiin and they just kept screwing it back in instead of replacing it. I got tired of mildewy clothes so i gave up and started taking clothes to my moms to wash. I have never been so happy to move from a place in my life.
