I feel that this apartment complex needs to get a review. Since I moved in 2 years ago, Maya Linda Apartment Homes has gone to hell in a hand basket. Not that it was great when I moved in (2011) but it has drastically changed since. The number one problem here is the roach infestation. It took 6 months for it to be controlled by the exterminator in my aparatment. 1. The management s attitude toward the ten ants has become both unprofessional and vindictive. I would say that the blames lies with the manager Angela. She is the most obnoxious person that I have ever met. She is rude and talks down to the tenants. God help you if you ruffle her feathers. Whoever put this person in charge of a large complex needs to have their head examined. She has done nothing to beautify the apartments or the property. You never see anyone walking the property to see what areas need work. They just do not care. I was witness to the manager telling a tenant that she did not have time for this ---- when the tenant told her about an issue she had. Yeah, a great way to treat the tenants. 2. The office is so unprofessional in the way that they dress. The front office girls dress like they are ready to go out partying with their tight fitting clothing. The assistant manager included. They look like a bunch of hussies. Disgusting appearances. I cannot believe that they have not been told to dress more appropriately. 3. I have had many complaints many complaints about problems in my apartment. For the most part, the maintenance crew is not that bad, except for Ken. He makes it his business to have job security by having to come to the apartment 3, 4 maybe 5 times before a repair will get done properly. Does management care when told, not at all and neither does the corporate office when they are contacted about issues. No one bothers to contact you. 4. Let s not forget about the dog poop that lies around for days. This is disgusting. You have tenants that do not clean after their pets and you have management that does not care. 5. They tell you there is security here. This is nonsense. To me security is non-existent. There are holes in the fencing that allows people to come onto the property. There is a gate in the back of the property by the golf course that is unsecured allowing all types of people to wander the property and sleep in the laundry rooms. Security does not come around until 10 p.m. and that is what I was told the security company. Sine I have lived here I can honestly say that if I saw security walking the premises it was hardly ever. This does not make me feel safe and secure. 6. And let s talk about security having to lock the pools at 10:00 p.m. The pool is opened from 8:00 until 10:00 p.m. This is hardly ever done by security or anyone else. I know because I live very close to the pool and I hardly ever see security or anyone else locking up. This means if the pools have not been locked, then security is not on the premises at all. 7. Drug dealing low life people who beg for food, cigarettes, and money and the crazy people. WOW! This is not a place to raise children. If you don t care what kind of environment they grow up in, then this would be the place to live. 8. They tell you about community activities when you come to lease. This is now non-existent. We use to have breakfasts, pot lucks, movie days; etc. These are no longer. So don t believe them. There are no community activities here. 9. They tell you about the computer room. We have tenants going to use the computers, who do not even know what they are doing and break them. The computers have not worked for 6 months. They tell you that the IT department has to come and look at it. Bull, no one ever comes. They tell you that they are having problems with their computers also. Bull, they work. They tell you a new cable company is coming in and they just have to work out the glitches. Bull, it doesn t take 3 months for the cable company to install for the computers. 10. They tell you about the 2 pools. Well, just this summer alone (2012), the pools were closed down several times. The Housing Department had to be called by tenants to come and check out the ugly green, dirty pools. This is because no one knows what to do. 11. If you want to change apartments, there is a $200.00 moving process fee. No this is not for them to move you. This is their processing fee. There is a fee for everything here. 12. When your lease expires and if you want to renew they could charge you as much as $200.00 for the new lease. I have heard it happen to many tenants. And beware of the prices that are quoted to you on the phone. This is not the price you will pay when you sign the lease. There are many extras added in. They will also tell you it is either the daily rate or market rate they will charge you for rent. And you do not want to be evicted here. There will be a laundry list of charges for you to pay. 13. If you do move in here make sure you take plenty of pictures of the apartment. When you move out, they will hit you up for everything. The total cost to you could be in excess of $1,000.00. I have been told by other tenants who moved and paid for a new carpet (not new when they moved in), painting (not painted when they moved in), and other things that were wrong with the apartment when they moved in. If you don t have proof, you are screwed. 14. There are many, many tenants that come and go here. The ratings are not good at all. Everyone complains here and given the opportunity they move out. 15. I do not feel safe and secure in this place and I do not have peace, quiet and enjoyment as it states I should have in my lease. I did not renew my lease when it came due. There are many apartments here in Phoenix that are far better in quality for the price than what Maya Linda charges. I could go on and on. BEWARE!!!
