Resident 2012 - 2013

8/11/2013

I could be vague - as most reviews seem to be on here, but I will clarify as to why I feel this is not a great place to live - unless you are a 20-something or a hearing impaired elder. 1. Parking - You are required to have a parking "tag" that hangs from your car to prove that you live here. While there are no assigned parking spaces - the parking rules are simply not enforced. Having a party? Well, then you're in luck! Your guests can just park anywhere they want to. Right now, there are at least 5 cars near my apartment that have no notification whatsoever that they are a resident here. It can be a pain in the behind if you work late. 2. Noise - Yikes! This is a problem. You can pretty much hear everything going on around you. Footsteps, bass from stereos and TVs, arguing and simply just talking out on your patio/balcony. I was very disappointed to find out I live next to these people who don't go to sleep until the sun comes up. They frequently shout and scream all night. Unfortunately - this is apartment life. What can you do? Do what I did: Stick your head out your door and tell them to shut up. Works every time! - sort of. 3. Maintenance - This area is truly lacking. I believe there is only 1 guy who is in charge of the whole complex and I just feel sorry for him. I've had over 13 calls to maintenance due to the shoddy, lazy workmanship they provide. Sure, they will get to your apartment quickly, but you will most likely have to call them YET AGAIN to fix the same problem over and over. They are also very condescending. They assume you are an idiot who doesn't know what they are talking about. Example: ME:"I believe my dishwasher is leaking. There have been puddles forming on the floor for a few days now" THEM: "Oh yeah? well, you probably aren't loading your dishwasher right, and you're probably using the wrong soap" ME: *face-palm* The end result? Sure enough, my dishwasher was leaking and it needed to be replaced. Overall: I do NOT recommend this apartment. The rules they lecture you about for an hour when you sign your lease become null and void - especially when it comes to parking, noise issues, and animal waste pick up. The appliances are cheap (think early-late 90's) and malfunction frequently. If a little more money was spent on higher-quality items, things would break less and the apartments would look much nicer. The floor plans are small and uncomfortable and I could see how living with a roommate might be difficult. While the office staff is friendly, the turn-over rate is unusually high for the complex management and the service from maintenance is lacking. I understand there is only so much one person can do - but holy cow - please hire more help here! And one more thing - the color your are painting these apartments is the ugliest color I've ever seen.
