Resident 2012

8/9/2012

One of the worst experiences of my life living here. Let me first say that any good reviews of this place are likely written by W27 employees. That is just the sort of thing they would do. The reality: - The rents are OUTRAGEOUS: 2000 for a room of your own, and I believe they just raised the rents even higher. Honestly, you can live like a prince anywhere else for the rents you'd pay here. - The place is rarely ever cleaned. The carpets are decrepit and stained. My friend was in a fight and bled and vomited all over the wall next to our room. I'm pretty sure the blood and vomit is still there. Someone put their trash by the stairs and it's been sitting there for months rotting away. The halls and walls are dirty and disgusting, and the rooms all have a certain vile smell to them, no matter how clean the tenant is. - The security used to be great, until they fired all the guards that everyone knew and loved (including our beloved "Sam" who knew everyone by name and who worked his tail off for W27, even volunteering to work on NYE when no one else would) because they supposedly "weren't doing their job." Instead, they hired a great mass of drones the monitor the place, and now the party scene at W27 is murdered, and everyone hates the security people. I moved out recently and returned my key. A few days later, I needed to get to the 4th floor to give something to a friend. The guard pretended not to know me even though I made a point in saying "Hi" to him everyday. He wouldn't let me on the elevator, and so I had to sneak in (which is quite common now as the guards are completely incompetent). - The surrounding area is horrible. Girls hate going to and from there, and at night it can be pretty dangerous on Fig out in front of W27. Lots of sketch homeless people. You'd be better off living nearer to the world. W27 may as well be Tuscany, but at least Tuscany is close to campus. - Traffic on Figueroa is louder than a 747 jet. Wasn't even worth opening my window the street is so loud, and sirens go by CONSTANTLY and all night long. - There are hidden fees on literally everything. Processing fees, subletting fees, late fees, contracts, more contracts, even more contracts, endless legal obligations and a massive security deposit which they will keep for themselves if you leave the apartment anything but spotless. - Want your room cleaned? That will be $110 thank you very little. - And the management honestly couldn't be worse. They are some of the cruelest, most inhumane people on the planet. Honestly, I don't understand how people can be so unreasonable and cruel. Case in point: friday the week before finals, I parked my car in the main lot of W27. I was distracted by my schoolwork, and went to Malibu to study at a friend's house for the weekend. I realized Saturday morning my mistake, so I called the management and asked for them to place a temporary pass on my car so I could leave it there for another night. They usually offer this for a fee (of course, as always in w27th), but the management instead told me there was nothing they could do and that my car probably had already been towed (which would have cost me the $300 dollar fine to recover a car). I asked the management lady if she'd look to see if my car was still there. I told her exactly what type of car it was, the color, and where it was parked (literally almost in sightline of the management office. She put me on hold, then returned and said that my car had been towed. I had my friend take me back to L.A. so I could get my car back and lo and behold there it was, right where I'd left it in the parking lot. The management lady blatantly lied to me. Don't ever get duped into living here. Conclusion: This place is beat. I hope it fails. Check out the boys down at CDI management. Their apartments are great. That's where faceguys and facegirls go to get nawsty and do facey, THD/ THP kind of things. W27 meanwhile, is where hopes and dreams and the joy of the world come to rot and die.
