Resident ā€¢ 2008 - 2009

First of all, overpriced, overpriced, overpriced! $1395 (w/utilities) for a one bedroom/one bathroom??? Seriously?! Ridiculous! Yes, it's on the harbor, but you really can't enjoy the harbor unless you pay for the even more overpriced harbor view apartments! Laundry: Laundry facilities are available at every other building. You have to purchase a card ($5) to use the washer and dryers. Place to purchase cards are at different laundry facilities. No where close for my building. To wash, it costs $1.50 and to dry is $1. Washer and dryers are small and can only take small loads. Many times, I've had to dry twice in order for my clothes to actually dry! And that's with a small load, too. Some floorplans have a washer/dryer inside the apartment. But they are smaller and takes 2 1/2 hours to wash and dry. Plus, it ups your utility bill. There are 5 washers and 5 dryers. They break down often. Utilites: Must pay for all of them! Parking: One carport parking spot. There is always a lot of work going on. My car gets dusty and dirty after just one day sitting in the spot. They re-paved the parking lot and made everyone move their cars for 2 days. I moved mine down to the only open spot on Peninsula and got a parking ticket. B.S. Not to mention, the only way to walk into your apartment was through the parking lot, therefore, you drag in the wet pavement into your place, getting the carpets dirty. Other parking is available, but don't bet on it after 5 p.m. Parking spots get taken up quickly! Safety: You will occasionally see security driving around in their little golf carts or walking around. Bums go through the trash cans early every morning. Three people in my building have claimed identity theft. Must be sure to shred anything with your information. You're supposed to tell the bums to leave, but they come back every morning. Of course, there are signs saying to not go through trash. Doesn't work. On hot nights, when the window is open, I hear them in the morning. What a wonderful wake up call: Bums searching for my identity. Noise: The buildings were built in 1969. Insulation, not so great. When my neighbors upstairs are having sex, I can hear it. Anytime they go up or down the stairs (in the loft apartments), I can hear the squeaking. I get waken up during the middle of the night from loud, squeaking noises from the apartment. Grounds: I know I clean up after my dog. Not too many people do the same. I love stepping in dog poop as I go out to the laundry room... As far as landscaping goes, meh... Not the worst, but surely not the best. Maintenance: We've become aquaintances with the maintenance guys because of how often we have to call them. The cabinet doors in the bathroom break all the time. The bathroom fan doesn't work. Just squeals. Doesn't do what it's supposed to do while taking a hot shower. Garbage disposal breaks often. Screened door and patio door... My God, they are a hassle. That door has never functioned properly. They come to fix it and it'll work for about a day, if that. Then it'll go off the tracks and be a trouble to open the door. The patio screened door falls off when a wind storm comes. Takes a couple days for the maintenance people to come and fix it. Then the patio door falls off or gets stuck. I've been locked out of my house multiple times because I was going to do my laundry (with the front door locked) and using the patio door. As I walk out, close the door, do my laundry. Then come back and door is jammed. Thankfully, the leasing office was open at the time and got a spare key... There are gates to get into the parking spots. My gate is either broken or being worked on. Somebody always drives right through the gate, breaking it. Actually, it makes it easier to get into the parking lot, but not as safe. Staff: Some are quite plesant. But the pleasant do not make up for the unpleasant. There is a new leasing agent who is quite unpleasant. She did my friends' lease. She spelled their names incorrect. She did a 9 month lease instead of a year. She mixed up the apartment numbers. Many mistakes a qualified leasing agent should not make, she made. My friends put me down as a referral. For refering someone, you are supposed to get $500. Yeah, that hasn't happen and as I found out today, will not happen because it will not "mature" before my lease is up. Oh, by the way, that is 11 days. Eleven days!!! I don't know what the hell "mature" means, but eleven days? Really? So if my lease went for 11 days longer, I would get $500? For a 12 month lease, I've paid you about $16,500. And you can't pay me back $500 for referring you someone who is paying $1800 a month for 12 months (which comes out to $21,600)?? Come on now! How cheap can you be! I guess "mature" was in the fine print on the bottom of all the '$500 for referring a friend' posters...This list can go on and on if I wanted to get into the nitty gritty, but it's just a waste. I just want to let the public know, if you are thinking about renting from Paz Mar, DO NOT DO IT! DO NOT RENT FROM PAZ MAR!!!!!
