Resident 2012 - 2015

7/21/2015

I have lived in 2000 Post for over 3 years now so obviously there are some good things here that have made me stay thus far. The staff here are friendly and prompt, the location is great and the amenities were nice... until they were demolished. The rent was at a fair price when I first moved in but then year after year, the rent is raised 10% or higher. Thats the thing with this building, as soon as they rope you in, you become a second class citizen and never know whats around the corner. This past year has been extremely challenging and has made living here a nightmare with zero compensation. The building decided to do some renovations and put it in a way that made it sound like it was all going to be minor and cosmetic when in fact it has been full on overhaul. It started with the hallways being renovated with new paint and carpet. This was welcome as the carpets have gotten very worn out but it was not fast in the least. The hallways were gutted of molding, carpet, light fixtures and paint was messed up for 2 months. It looked like I lived in an abandoned building which hardly makes you want to have guests over. Then they wanted to remodel the lobby in the main entrance... with jack hammers. This disrupted most of the first floor apartments along with having to relocate our mailboxes and parcel pickup to opposite sides of the square block building. Construction went on for months and reopened last week only to be revealed as unfinished and tacky. Not worth it at all. Then they overhauled our courtyard that had our pool and gym. I feel bad for the residents around that area because that was HEAVY construction as I could hear from the other side of the building. This has gone on for most of the year and still has a way to go. They provided us with guest passes to a local gym but we pay for the convenience of having it onsite. Now they're changing the outer facade which means that there is scaffolding all over the building and starting at 7am, there is a man pounding on my bedroom wall with a hammer. Another project that is supposed to take months. I pay a premium for a private patio attached to my apartment but now I have lost access to it. The building said they will compensate me $20 a month for the loss of my patio. Does that sound fair? All of this plus so much more and yet I am still paying the full price for a high-end luxury building. I have voiced these grievances to management but they offer no compensation. All they offer us is someone keeping us up to date with all the delays on construction and a promise that it will all be worth it. It really just shows that they do not care for their residents quality of life and its a shame. The signs have always been there though, especially with seeing people move in and out constantly. Its a revolving door and looks like they don't care as long as they keep on getting new people to move in. Maybe you'll like the building when construction has finished but personally, I cannot continue to live in a building that shows such a lack of compassion to its residents that make it their home.
