Resident 2014

11/11/2014

I just moved into Miraido Village and am seriously regretting it at the moment. The apartment itself is nice, neighbors are pretty quiet, and the staff is wonderful; however, we are on the Jackson side of the street near 6th, and the traffic and construction noise is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. I don't know if the windows are thin, if the noise is just really *that* bad, or a combination of both, but it's shocking. As I write this, the second freight train (no joke!) in 30 minutes is passing, an ambulance or fire truck has its sirens blaring, the construction trucks from Taylor and 7th are rumbling down the street, and someone is banging around and slamming the door to the maintenance closet right outside our door in the hallway. While this wouldn't be my favorite living situation as it is, my poor cat is absolutely beyond terrified. He has barely eaten or had any water in the last 24 hours and has spent almost all of his time shaking underneath the sofa. If you are a pet owner, please don't move here. It will break your heart watching them miserable in their own home. I know moving is already traumatic for cats, but it's truly the noise that doesn't allow him to relax, even for one moment. If I could rewind, I never would have signed a lease here. 4 stars for the complex, negative stars for the noise. I guess I'm praying once construction is done it will get better, but something tells me it will be awhile before that happens.
