Resident 2003

12/18/2003

I have been living here for the past 4 months and I am waiting for my lease to expire so that I can move out.

First let me start by saying some good things (since there is little to say):

- The apartments are specious.
- The play area for the kids is nice.

Now the bad part:

I think I have moved into an ant colony. Ants are there constantly, even on the third floor. Upon complaining, the management put some baits, but that hasn´t solved the problem.

There are also mice or rats crawling under the roof and behind the walls. You would hear them constantly during the night. I also saw some dead mice in the parking lot. This is scary. I am going to inform San Jose, Dept. of Health (if there is such a thing).

The apartments are more than 30 years old and are falling apart. The maintenance is poor. There is thick coat of paint on the walls and cabinets. Do not be fooled by the model apartment. Make sure you see the apartment before you sign the lease. Do not sign the lease unless the problems are fixed. The chances are that they would never be fixed.

The best part is that you can move out during the first month of the lease. During that month they will make promises to fix whatever you ask them. But those promises will not be kept.

When I moved in there was a nasty odor in the apartment. They told us it was due to shampoo they used for carpet cleaning. But that was a lie. When we finally informed them that we are moving out, they had some company come and do the ozone treatment. Finally the odor went away. Other promises made during that month, however, were not kept. All my calls were completely ignored.

Resident services is a joke. The staff is rude and unprofessional.

The sidewalks are dirty. They are never cleaned. They put garbage containers in front of patios of some apartments. You should pray thay they do not do it to your apartment because it is like moving next to a landfill.

There is no visitor parking in the apartment. The visitors have to park on the side of the streets where parking is extremely hard to find. You get only one parking slot with the apartment. For the other you will have to pay $25 per month. And that parking space is likely going to be on the other side of the apartment complex.

I have stayed in about 10 apartment complexes. This is by far my worst experience.

In summary, it is a good idea to stay away from such a place.
