Good location but thats about it.
The best thing about Cavalier is definitely the location. It is pretty close to campus if you are a student which is good. There are 2 aspects of living in Cavalier that are particularly frustrating. First they advertise Free Wi-Fi internet but it doesn't work in any practical sense. It is highly restricted access to the internet that from my experience only works intermittently, every time you open a browser you have to click a terms of use agreement and I always lose my connection and get redirected to that page. There is also a link that sends you to a form for connecting video game systems to the network but I have never been able to get it to work. There is no method of resolving any issues with the poorly run internet. If you scan for networks I pick up 35, all the tenants I have spoken to about this end up paying for Internet which should be included in their rent. The management at Cavalier take no responsibility for misrepresentation to clients, even though they benefit financially from it and give tenants no opportunity to opt out of the horrible service. It is provided by a company called ETS - which tenants are given contact information for and directed to for any issues with the internet but they are just as worthless. It is almost impossible to get in contact with them over the phone, usually you end up at a answering machine but they never return calls. The second thing is the management office, primarily for the fact that they are irresponsible and make no effort to help tenants. They seem to have the attitude that if you have a problem that you can't deal with that you should just move out rather than speak with them. The women who manages the accounts and sits in the back of the office, seems to always be having a bad day - and even dropping off rent seems like an inconvenience to her day. The other Asian women is nicer - but neither are very helpful in providing the service that tenants are paying for. Aside from not taking responsibility for the lacking internet. They also are supposed to provide rolls of quarters to tenants for doing laundry. They seem to always just be headed to the bank to pick some up but never actually have any on hand. Also the hours of the office are posted from 8am-5pm but it seems that this schedule is too demanding for the staff. As they regularly close the office early, which inconveniences many tenants, particularly because the office receives parcels for tenants and will hold them for the tenant. Closing the office early wouldn't be a big deal if it were a few minutes every once in a while but it seems to be a regular occurrence given that many tenants are aware of the issue and it has been even as early as an hour before 5pm. One more practical not given my complaints. If you are considering living at Cavalier make sure to come by at night to check out the lighting. The entire complex, parking and pool area, is lit up with innumerable safety lights. This is good for safety issues if that is a concern to you but the lights shine brightly through the blinds into the apartments which kept me up at night when I first moved in.Share This Review
