Resident 2012

9/6/2012

I have mixed feelings about this. This place is great when it comes to location. The price when I rented it was reasonable. There are a few things you should be aware of though. I got a unit with new appliances, so that's good. The condition of it when I first moved in was clean. However, the sink counter next to the bathroom still had some hair from shaving of a former renter. I'm not kidding here. Cabinets in the kitchen were quite fragile. You couldn't adjust the rack as it'd come off with paint. I didn't see rats, bugs, or cockroaches. Walls are quite thin. I always heard noise from neighbors. Neighborhood consists of a lot of students obviously so you can expect some parties during Friday nights or weekends. It's not that bad, but it could be loud sometimes. This place is pet friendly. You don't have to pay for pet rents. They have poles with little poop bags and trash for used poop bags around the property. Some people don't clean up after their pets, but this place hire a few people to take care of it. Don't remember how often it is. The internet was good until around the end of my lease. I had to contact the number that I received with password on it to find out that another router was added to received the better signal; I didn't have any problems since then. I wasn't notified by anybody at that time. I'm not a big fan of management here. They are supposed to be in the office until 5pm, Mon-Fri. Nonetheless, it's often for them to leave early....as early as 4pm. The maintenance guy is nice. If you're in need of your package, but the office is closed before it should, he'd let you do that. The management isn't friendly to you once you moved it. Rather, they can be short, can be rude, and can't be helpful sometimes. According to the management, they return your deposit pretty quick. When you give them the 30 days notice, please choose PICK UP your deposit if you don't know your new address. Don't let them send it to your relative of your friend. Don't go back and update your forward address later....even before your move out date. They won't put it on the form, and they won't be responsible for your lost check. If you haven't received your check after moving out for a while, and you didn't choose to pick up, call the company that owns this property. You can find the company's name on the copy of your lease. Call the company as your mail would be returned to the company. DON'T ask the management at Cavalier to reissue your check....you will get ripped off.
