Resident 2011 - 2012

10/25/2012

I am sure that someone will claim that this is a "faked" statement - because it has positive aspects. It isn't. We moved into Camden after our last apartment complex (Horizons at Rock Creek) cut our brand new lease with almost no warning (while I was 8 months pregnant) - to repair "structural" issues (i.e. renovate so they could charge more money). We were out of time and out of options. We walked into Camden, they listened to our situation, and got us into a 2bdrm w/ den, 1st floor ADA apartment, for less than we had been paying - which was perfect for bringing home a new baby. They worked with us on "move-in" date to minimize the double rent problem (yeah, Horizons held us to 30 days notice on 'month-to-month', even when they cut our lease). When our washer wasn't working correctly and they found out we had a little one on the way, they upgraded us to a higher end Whirlpool, as they wanted to make sure it worked. We did have a little problem with parking from time to time, spiders (which you will get in ANY apartment complex), and noise from other apartments. Being on the first floor, it was mostly from above, but never too bad. It certainly never woke the baby, and they were probably more annoyed with us if they could hear her. We ended our lease early, buying a house, and they worked with us on when our penalty (clearly stated up front) would be due so that it worked with under-writing and closing. The pool had some maintenance issues through the summer, but overall the community was kept well. Not as many heating / cooling issues as our last place - by a long shot! Some pooling in the parking lots when it rained that got annoying. My only major complaint was that water was a bit overpriced per person, and the trash system was annoying (but Horizons had the same one). Most HOAs and apartments in Colorado don't give you a choice, so this would be true wherever you went. If you don't like your rent going up every year, lock into a longer lease. The 1 month rent penalty 60 days notice is one of the most lenient around (and we have looked) - and may work out to be less than having your rent go up after 12 months or shorter. It is simple math. Maintenance was always very prompt to submitted requests - except one time when they were dealing with 28 inches of snow in 18 hours - understandable.
