We've lived here for almost four years, and every time we turn around, they're changing policy. First, we moved from a one bedroom to a two bedroom with NO porblems, and then a year later, we wanted to move buildings because the building we live in gets as hot as hell in the summer, and they told us that after living here for three years and paying rent on time every month, that we would have to re-apply all over again, and pay a new deposit! This includes the pet deposit as well. Who has that kind of money laying around?
I understand that the economy is crap right now, but the managers here don't seem to care...they demanded that we pay a 50$ late fee when we were just one day late, and it was the first time we'd been late in several months, in fact, we often pay six months of rent in advance, but they couldn't find it in their hearts to give us just one little break. I moved to Colorado thinking that it was a good place to raise kids and get a fresh start, thinking that the people here were good people, honest people. I still seem to get the same treatment here that I did back home. No one is willing to give a little, even around Christmas time. Now, instead of having over a hundred dollars in the bank, I don't even have enough to put gas in my car. Just because someone in the office wouldn't cut us a little slack.
If you like loud neighbors who vaccuum at ungodly hours, loud minorities who fight loudly across the street in the early morning hours, and a place that tries to tell you that you owe 20$ because someone found trash in the hallway outside your apartment that wasn't even yours, and someone has to pay for maintenance to pick it up...then this is the place for you. If not, I would stay as far away as possible. I haven't been happy living here for a few years now...and it hasn't gotten much more bearable.
My lease is up soon, and you better believe that I am out of here as soon as I possibly can.
