Run away -- there are better places.
I moved here a few months ago figuring that I would give this place a chance, bad reviews nonetheless. That was a mistake. First of all. I moved in a couple days early -- I was told that I would only need to pay the first month's rent. I was surprised because every other apartment I have moved into requires first month plus prorated rent for the move-in. I was told that I would pay the pro-rated amount with the second month. Imagine my surprise when I'm out of state a few weeks later, I receive a call about past due rent. I explain what I was told, but no apologies, no nothing; I'm told that I'm late, going to be charged a late fee and am FACING EVICTION over an amount of well *under* $100. She didn't even have the decency to waive the late fee for a new tenant! Secondly, I have asthma and I have to keep the windows open to keep smoke from the other units out of here. Very unimpressive. Thirdly, in the hallway there are drywall patches that have yet to be painted from when I first moved here. Fourth, the pictures they have for this place are misleading. Of course the grounds by the leasing office look great, but they have put no effort into the other common areas. Fifth, they charge a flat rate for utilities. I work from home some of the time, so I have a second bedroom for use as an office. Even though I use a fraction of water, trash, etc, versus a family of 3 or so who would normally occupy this space, I still pay over $80 extra in utilities. They did not disclose this until after I signed the lease. Finally, I was attempting to change out a burned out headlight in my car (at most, would have taken 5 minutes). A staff member told me that I was not allowed to do this in the parking area, that the owners would "kick out" anyone caught doing repairs. Now, I can see not wanting people to change oil or rebuild an engine there, but not being allowed to change a headlight is a bit of a stretch. Even the lease agreement allows "minor repairs." In summary, there are better places out there, even if you have money or credit issues. In retrospect, I wish I would had looked around a bit more before signing this lease. Fortunately the lease is only for six months.Share This Review
