Leasing office engages in ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES: 1. They require unqualified tenants to FALSIFY their income....ie, in so doing, they misreport the income of prospective tenants to their own bank. This practice is characterized as part of their "system" and is ILLEGAL. 2. Leasing office demands that tenants submit BAD CHECKS to hold apartments and then cashes those checks anyway, despite assurances they will not do so. 3. Leasing office extracts money from your bank accounts, through automatic withdrawal, WITHOUT permission or written consent of account holder... 4. Units are filled with mold -- another actionable offense. I was left with chronic lung infections after living here. Berkshire simply painted over the mold. 5. There is presumed kick back scheme between towing company which tows automobile from their parking lot and leasing office. Sometimes the leasing office tows your car or those of your friends/visitors by "accident" and then demands hundreds of dollars from tenants to recover vehicle. The leasing office does not follow legally prescribed procedure for towing, rendering the tows illegal as well. 6. There are multiple evictions from Berkshire against tenants who were told to falsify their income, thereby damaging their credit/reputation based upon alleged Berkshire fraud. This is so based upon dishonest practices within leasing office unless they would have us belive that 50-70 percent of tenants are lying about their income. (Essentially they take as much money as you have and then kick you out the moment you can no longer pay rent after requiring you to falsify rent to qualify for their overpriced units.) Leasing agents LIE repeatedly and renege on promises and commitments. Don't believe a word they say. Don't consent to any of their agreements to falsify documents. Report and document EVERYTHING. If any attorneys are willing to launch class action against Berkshire and management, please leave your details in reviews section...so wronged tenants can contact you. Incidentally, Berkshire has, at times, closed comments section to prevent damning information from being posted. This leasing office is among the most predatory I have ever encountered. REGIONAL OFFICE SUPPORTS, COVERS UP, AND DEFENDS AFOREMENTIONED PRACTICES.

Thank you for your review. If you haven't yet done so, please contact either The Berkshire Community Manager at (202) 362-4201 or Regional Manager at (703) 918-2500 to discuss the on-going issue. An inspection of the apartment with a Supervisor from the Extermination Company is warranted and needed. Understandably, if you'd rather discuss housing alternatives, I'm sure the Manager and/or Regional Manager would be willing to review options, including transferring to a different apartment.
