Resident 2015

5/24/2015

We have lived at Riversong Apartments now for about two weeks. While it has not been enough time for a thorough observation, we have been able to make some initial observations. -We rented sight unseen. Upon arrival, the leasing office staff was found to be quite disorganized. They gave us keys before having us sign a lease (we signed days later), did not tell us where our unit was, where to park, or give us any info at all. At the end of our initial meeting, we were frustrated with them and they were frustrated with us for not knowing what we needed to move in. We have had several experiences since then with the staff. It seems like they are just new right now and have not developed customer service expertise. -Our unit is lovely. Everything is new and beautiful. The ceilings are high, the bathrooms enormous, the kitchen cabinets aplenty, and the carpet is plush. However, there are no ceiling fans or lights in the bedrooms, so we've spent about $300 in lamps and floor lights since move in. We can hear our side neighbors, but it's not excessive at all. We can hear people in the hallways, but again it's not excessive. The floors creak heightening the sound of someone simply walking. Overhead neighbors can definitely be heard: squeaky beds, running dogs, barking dogs, dropping things, walking in heels, or anything else that exudes even the slightest noise. It's apartment living, so noise is to be expected. However it can get a little too loud at times. It's unfortunate that such a "luxury" building did not implement sound barriers of some sort, especially in the flooring/ceiling. -The apartment amenities are average. The pool is small and the fitness center is similar to that of a hotel, maybe worse. The "starbucks" is a machine that only dispenses hot chocolate. The only fantastic amenity is easy access to the River Walk, which we have utilized a lot. -There are very limited dog areas. Depending on your unit location, you will be walking pretty far just to get to a green area. There is no dog run or bark park, which is really unfortunate. Especially at night when you don't want to walk far for the last potty break. -Parking has not been issue thus far, although I imagine it will be once the building fills up. There is one free parking deck for the entire building. You must pay to access the "covered" parking and to have a guaranteed spot. Overall, I can't wait for the next 50 weeks to be over. I already want to move out due to all the nonsense. It's unfortunate because we really love the actual apartment.
