Resident ā€¢ 2002 - 2013

To those considering renting at Bluff House, please, do yourselves a favor and look elsewhere. You don't want to live here. If anyone currently living at Bluff House would be interested in forming a Renter's Association, please contact me at ManhattanMama53(at)aol.com. If management and corporate won't take us seriously as individuals, perhaps as a group we can make them realize that we just aren't gonna take being treated so horribly in the future. They choose to pave our parking lots (forcing us to remove our cars, with no place or advice on where to park them, and then threaten to have them towed at our expense if we don't comply, for example) and paint our buildings the color of mud (when they were fine the way they were) rather than choosing to give us updated, working appliances. They've chosen these mundane and unnecessary tasks to, I'm sure, hike our rents as soon as they come due. Their priorities are screwed up, to say the least. While they advertise two swimming pools and a gym, none of them have been in working order for years. If you ask them, they'll tell you they'll be ready within weeks. They've been saying that for years. And I can't remember the last time I saw a pest control service, but its been years. The "water fee" is, I'm convinced, just a way for the owner to make more money. For many years before Pacifica purchased this property, we didn't have a water fee. Everything was included in our rent. And why would one person in a one bedroom have to pay the same water fee as six people living in a three bedroom? Its just wrong. No one cares about paved parking lots or ugly colored buildings (they're ugly now, they weren't before). We care about being treated kindly by the office management (which we are not). We care about being able to cook on our stoves, wash dishes in working dishwashers, have working and up-to-date refrigerators, have nice paint on our walls, have pretty, clean carpet at our feet, and broken things fixed within days (not weeks or months) of them breaking. We also care about better lighting in the parking lots. The darkness that abides there now is a welcome mat for burglars, and can be extremely unsafe, resulting in bad falls. I'd be willing to bet that the manager has state of the art appliances (and perhaps even pretty and COLORFUL walls) in her "free" apartment, while she laughs at our requests and refuses to turn our work orders over to maintenance in a timely fashion, even when our toilets over flow and we have to go to the nearest restaurant or store to use the bathroom. When they do hire labor (as in the recent painting and paving), they hire the cheapest labor available, often leaving broken items belonging to us in their wake. So perhaps a renter's association is just what this place needs. If you agree, please email me. I'll be tactful. I know how reprehensible and vengeful our current management can be. I've lived here a long time and I remember what a beautiful and wonderful place this was to live in over a decade ago. My wish is to have it return to that condition. And a kind and friendly staff who truly CARE would be the icing on the cake. Until then, rather than writing reviews that may never be seen or cared about, we, as a group, may finally be able to get things done in a kind and respectful way. Just a thought. I look forward to hearing from you.
