Resident 1999 - 2002

IN MY AND THOSE I HAVE TALKED TO, Chowder Bay has possibly the worst Maintenance and Office Staff that ever lived. True the office staff has always been friendly and has a real nack for remembering your name, but when you report a maintenance problem it never is delt with without multiple calls over weeks and/or months. Examples of problems I experienced: Hallway flooding (took 3 days, called the emergency line and everything with no response. Had to call a manager), No electricity to light fixture (again took several calls. Ultimately gave up and just made it a term for my renewall. Even then the worker simply jammed a wad of paper to hold it to the electrical supply. Again a manager had to be called and a letter written to the management company to get any action), no warm or hot water in the bathroom, sliding door racks so overraught with rust that they broke off several times (am still waiting for replacement or repair over a year later) etc. I could go on and on.
They have lost the key to my apartment twice. I have never changed my lock, which is scary. That means they have such poor security that anyone can walk off with my keys. I have twice had to provide THEM with a copy of my apartment key. The gate works only some of the time and the other two gates are left locked though it is impossible to get out of the complex since it is at a heavily driven corner- even during daylight hours.
To top it off, they don´t change out a/c filters or check (MINE ANYWAY) when they claim they will with their notices. You are on your own with Chowder Bay- but god forbid you get accused of not picking up dog poop! That gets you 2 home visits from an office staffer in 3 days- though I could prove right then and there that I did pick up after my dog (Baggies with Dog Poo in the trash right outside my door).
This is just my story with Chowder Bay Apartments. Doing laundry though, talking to other people I hear very similar stories about almost identical situations. I reccomend to anyone wanting to move in somewhere- go to the place and talk to the residents- NOT the office staff.
I will say that their lawns are pretty nice, and they have 2 good sized pools, too.
