Resident ā€¢ 2014 - 2015

1/2/2015

I'm a junior at UCF and I have never been so infuriated, disgusted, and disappointed with a housing community as I was the day I moved into the Lofts. I am counting down the days until July, when I can finally rid myself of this place and never look back. ALL OF THE PICTURES I HAVE INCLUDED I TOOK WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR OF ENTERING MY "NEW" APARTMENT. The apartment that I moved into was so inhabitable that I demanded to move to a different one (I asked if there was anyway to get out of the lease all together, but of course there wasn't). Eventually they agreed to switch me to a 2x2, but not before doing everything they could to try and keep me in that disgusting apartment, swearing that they were out of 3x3's and that pest control comes every Wednesday. I had to demand speaking to the leasing manager (admittedly, she was very helpful and willing to accommodate for their negligence). - There were bugs EVERYWHERE; in my room, in the kitchen, in the closets, in my bathroom. Turning on a light meant watching some insect sprint across the room. - The bedroom is practically the size of a handicap restroom. - The closet is spacious...but is located inside of your bathroom. The set up is just asking for mold, which they can of course pin on you. - You are REQUIRED to buy renter's insurance, which they claim is to protect you, when in fact it is to protect them if they decide they need something on their grounds repaired. They can just charge it to your insurance, instead of having to pay for it themselves. - Unless your apartment faces the sun, there is no light. (I wasn't surprised to read another review that addressed this problem, because during the afternoon it is possible to make my apartment pitch black.) - Maintenance took 9 days to fix my AC the first time I put in a request. They came back a total of 5 times, assuring me each time they left that it was fixed, before it finally was fixed...a month and a half later. Their solution one of the times they came out was to put a portable AC in my room; it was taller than the desk and congested the already cell-sized room. Not to mention it was incredibly lousy and impossible to sleep with on. It took another two calls to have them come and remove it. I don't want to blame the people that work in the office, because they're practically never rude. I understand that there's only so much they can do, and they're at the bottom of the food chain as far as the chain of command is concerned. But this community needs A LOT of work, and charging the rates they do, I'm not sure why they haven't made the basic, hygienic, or systematic changes that they need to.
