Resident ā€¢ 2005

I have lived at the fountains now for 3 months. I came here because of their great move in special. When I came to preview the place before I signed my lease, they took me to a nice model apartment in the section that was previously the Fifth Season. It was really nice & I thought I was getting a good deal. That was until I saw my own apartment. My apartment is in a back building of the fountains on the second floor. As soon as I walked up to my building I regreted signing my lease. Unlike the building the model apartment was in, my building was dirty, very dirty. There was no grass in the yard area & trash all over the floors. The stairs were nasty. I was embarassed to have my family help me move in. Inside the apartment wasn't much better. The walls have been spackled & repainted horribly. You can see where the walls & ceilings are horribly uneven in a lot of places. There is paint on everything, mirrors in the bathrooms, windows, kitchen cabinets, etc. The washer/dryer is in the guest bath with no closet doors covering it. It actually sticks halfway out into your bathroom. Very ugly. The only good thing was the carpet. It was in good condition. From the get-go I have had problems with my apartment. Someone wrote something in a review about pest control. I have seen the lady one time. She just came in my house one day. I didn't like the fact that she had a key as she worked for an outside company not the apartments. I don't like anyone having a key to my apartment really. Well, her pest control doesn't work. keep a very clean house yet I constantly have ants. Speaking of clean apartments, mine wasn't one when I moved in. The place was nasty. Dust everywhere. The bathroom was gross. The worst had to be the stove. There was old food on the burners & when I turned on my stove one of my burners smoked bad. That was the first of my many calls to maintainence. They do come out quickly when you call. I do have to give them that much. Anyway, one of the guys came out & the wiring of my stove was all burned up. (A very big fire hazard). He also looked at my dishwasher which didn't wash my dishes. He said I have a new dishwasher (new? my dishwasher is at least 5 years old. I guess it is new compared to the rest of my 10 year old appliances) He said my "new" dishwasher should work & that I should run my hot water for 5 minutes in my sink before I turn on my dishwasher. I tried that & I bought all the expensive diswashing liquids, etc & still nothing. Then, a few days later my toilet started running non-stop. It was the weekend so I figured I would wait till Monday to call maintainence. Then Sunday night my pipe under my kitchen sink just exploded. Water was everywhere. At this point I had only lived in this place a week and I was feed up. I sat in my kitchen floor surrounded by water and just cried. Maintainence came out Monday morning. The guy accused me of jamming stuff under my sink. He said that was the only reason the pipe would have broken. There was nothing under my sink. Then he accused me of cutting the chain inside the toilet lid thing so my toilet would run constantly. I asked him why I would want my toilet to run & have to pay a higher water bill. What a nutcase! He looked at my dishwasher & again told me I must be mistaken because it should work fine. Three months later, I am still washing my dishes by hand. Then my air conditioning went out after I had lived in my apartment for 3 weeks. Of course, it happened on a weekend & I had to stay in my 85 degree apartment for the rest of the weekend because air conditioning doesn't count for emergency maintainence. The guy came out Monday. He came up to my boyfriend waving the air filter & said when was the last time you changed this filter. My boyfriend said never & the maintainence guy got really rude with my boyfriend & told him the filters have to be changed every month & they are free in the office & the air conditioning was going to cost a fortune to fix because we never changed the filter. Now keep in mind, we had only lived here 3 weeks so the filter should have been changed before we moved in. And he told us that we shouldn't shut either bedroom door because the air conditioner will break because it is made to cool the whole house & when we shut the doors it can't cool those rooms. Who wants to live in a place where you can't shut your bedroom door? Anyway, it didn't cost a fortune to fix. The air conditioner just gets covered in ice & you have to turn off the air, turn the fan on & let the thing unfreeze. It freezes up about every 3 weeks. Now we just unfreeze it ourselves instead of calling maintainence. I read another review & they said their power bill was high because of their air conditioner. My apartment never gets below 75 even though the air is running constantly. My electric bill is crazy. It is almost as much as my mother's is for a family of 4 and I only have myself & sometimes my boyfriend. It is impossible to keep the air filters clean. I change mine every few weeks & they are covered in dust. I have to dust & sweep every other day & I still have dust & have a hard time sleeping. My fridge leaks water constantly. Another thing maintainence can't fix. Sometimes, people knock on my door & run at 3 in the morning. My neighbor downstairs plays alternative rock in the early evenings & on weekends so high it shakes my walls. I can hear my neighbors talking if I am in any of my bathrooms or at my dining room table. The people above me like to talk loudly on their balcony at 4 in the morning. So if you are looking for a cheap move in special & you like old appliances that rarely work, don't like to sleep at night, & love to party with your neighbors then this is the place for you. If you have any class & aren't desperate for a place, then I would look elsewhere. I am saving as we speak to get enough money to pay to break my lease so I don't mess up my rental history. This place is horrible.
