Resident 2001 - 2002

3/15/2005

I used to refer to this place as my "White Trash Condo". It is subsidized housing and for the price was OK. The complex (Could you really call this place a complex or community for that matter?) is located right next to Charlotte High so those Friday night games can get loud. Not too bad though since they usually end before midnight. Being close to the high school also puts it perilously close to the "not-so-nice" part of Punta Gorda. I didn't know that Punta Gorda had a crack neighborhood till I lived here. The good news is that you can easily avoid driving through that crack neighborhood and the school provides a decent buffer so, I'd say you shouldn't have any problems. The buildings aren't all that well built and I could smell my neighbors smoking in their apartment from inside mine (windows and door closed). I had several problems with the apartment when I moved in and after bugging the manager several times they weren't fixed. I just gave up. I did end up breaking my lease to move for a job and was able to get most of my security deposit back (they HAD to steam clean the spotless carpets). The bottom line is I was glad to leave and I wouldn't want to move back but, if you are in a pinch and need inexpensive housing... Well, know what you are getting into.
