Post Hyde Park was a pleasant place to live, as long as you can afford it.

I relocated to Tampa and moved into Post back in 09 and recently moved out in April '11. I wasn t familiar w/ the area but the relocation company said Hyde Park was a great area for a young professional. They couldn t have been more right! I loved living in the Hyde Park area and overall my experience living at Post Hyde Park was a pleasant one. I always felt safe, the building, units and property were always very well maintained. There are 2 pools, a modern fitness center, laundry area, a garden area, a business center and a lot of grills/outside hang out areas. All units have washer/dryer hook ups and dishwashers and alarm systems installed. The garden size bath tubs in each unit area also a nice touch. My walk-in bedroom closet was also a very nice large size. Post was always very prompt and professional to address any maintenance issues. Post also had pest control come in regularly so I never experienced any type of bug problem. The location of the complex is wonderful, only a walk away from the Bars on Howard and Old Hyde Park Village. There is also several grocery stores nearby. It's also easy access to 275/I-4 and the toll. Like other reviewers my main complaint, and reason for leaving, was the price. I was leasing the smallest one bedroom unit (with no upgrades) and the first year the unit was very reasonably priced for it's location and size. The second year they sent me my renewal notice trying to increase my rent about $150 a month but when I went in Post was able/willing to work with me for a more reasonable increase approx. $15 a month. The 3rd year (when I decided not to renew), they attempted to increase my rent by approx. $350 a month. When I went in the leasing office they said corporate mandated this increase given the supply/demand and they didn t have any flexibility. They said that were people that were ready and willing to pay this rate, so I could pay it or leave. So, I started condo hunting and was able to purchase a condo on Harbour Island for less money for both my mortgage and HOA payment monthly than it would have cost me to stay at Post. So, I guess I have Post to thank for giving me a good reason to make the plunge to purchase my own place. Other complaints would be having only one garbage area (dumpter) which is located near the front of the complex. I think Post should offer valet trash service for those units further away as it s about a quarter mile walk to the front if you live all the way in the back. Parking typically isn t a problem unless you get in late at night (after 10:30PM) or some Friday/Saturdays when there is something special going on in the area. It's not impossible to find a spot, but it will require a longer walk. The pool gets a little crazy most warm Saturdays, so if you re counting on laying out and relaxing, look to go lay out elsewhere. Also, I lived in building 100 and it took some getting used to the noise from having the toll road and train tracks only 5 feet away. Overall, Post Hyde Park was a pleasant place to live, as long as you can afford it.
