Resident 2012

11/17/2012

I was trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but it's just not worth the money- go over to Harbor Island or find a townhouse in Hyde Park if you are a professional. The only benefit to this complex is if you work for certain companies they will waive the deposit when you move in. Bug Problem: When we first moved in there were Palmetto's and Silverfish galore. Took multiple times with the bug guy and our own traps and sprayings to finally get rid of the problem. The bug guy was extremely nice, but still, don't rent an apartment that has an obvious problem until it's fixed. Parking: Is next to impossible, and visitors who come even during the day can and will get towed. There are visitor parking spots, but most of the time they are full with resident permitted cars- management just says oh well. Expect to shell out an extra $50 a month to buy yourself a guaranteed spot. College Students:If you are a professional, you will be annoyed by the constant stream of people walking around drunk all night long. It is suppose to be post-graduate only, but that is just not the case. Go outside at any time and you can see college students coming and going. Apparently parents sign the lease for students from what we've heard. Apartments: They have some amenities, but not many. Track lighting in the kitchen and dining area is not a luxury and barely gives of any light. No other lighting fixtures are in the apartment. Trash has to be taken over to the only dumpster in the complex, which is by the front gate. So all that trash has to be driven over in your car if you live on the other side of the complex. Air conditioning is not at all efficient and very uneven within the apartment- expect your bill to be high. Walls are quite thin. You will hear conversations of neighbors without fail. You will hear the train at all hours of the night blaring it's horn. The complex is right next to the tracks and the expressway. Staff: Despite the short comings of this complex, which makes the complex beyond a waste of your money, the staff are actually very pleasant. Maintenance and the housekeeping people are courteous, and quick to ask if you need anything when they are driving around. They do fix problems fast. Leasing agents are nice- but just don't believe them when they say there are no college students.
