Resident 2010 - 2015

3/22/2015

March 2015 - Why NOT to move into Ashford Park In the past five years of living here, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO IMPROVE OR UPDATE THE COMPLEX - NOTHING! Yet rent continues to rise. - Lights in stair railings outside the building, in visible areas, are burnt out and have been for 5+ years. - Regular Car Thefts Occur. Cars are broken into, parts are stolen off cars in parking garage as a result of poor lighting. Cars have also been abandoned then left vandalized for years. - Lights in the parking garage, internal hallways, and stair ways have been burnt out for years. - Every single pass code entry way is broken, creating free access for solicitors and thieves anytime of day or night. - Since there is no lighting you cannot walk around at night without stepping in dog poop. - There are a few inconveniently located dog poop trash stations. None of which are located where the dogs go to the bathroom. Common sense would tell you to IMPROVE THE NUMBER ONE COMPLAINED ABOUT ISSUE and add more stations. - Landscaping is not manicured or updated. Now it is dying, growing into peoples balconies, and attracting bugs closer to the apartments. Unless you like old, over grown shrubs and bugs crawling through your windows and doors. - Walls, floors and ceilings are paper thin. You can hear conversations, showers/toilets, doors shutting, people walking, laundry being done, the elevator if its near you. You can literally hear everything above, below, and through the walls. Remember, if you can hear them, they can hear you too. - THIS IS A BIG ONE. They can advertise lower rent, but your out of pocket spending is still high. Why? The Heating and A/C units are old and inefficient. On top of that, the windows and doors are thin and have air leaks on the edges. When the wind blows you can feel a breeze. To keep your apartment at a relatively comfortable temperature you are paying more each month in energy bills. $300+ per month, in the summer for electricity to keep it at 80 degrees. - With the roads being so narrow, car noises (music, exhaust, etc.) echo off the buildings. It is a lot louder than you would think. Too few speed bumps allow the cars to go too fast, so the noise is louder. - Parking. You only get one sport per apartment - in a 1 to 3 bedroom complex. The only visitor spots are parked in by residents, as a result. Why can't an inventory of spots be done and a plan be created to accommodate the needs of people? Now you have people parking illegally in no parking areas. - Fire Alarms go off in the middle of the night for hours, anytime after it rains. This can happen a few times per week, at times. You have to evacuate in the middle of the night. - If you move in, notice how the light switches do not work. There are not any plugs they correspond to. - Front gate is always broken and left open at all hours. You can blame this on inappropriate behavior. However, nothing has been done to improve the gate anyway. Of course it will break when it is substandard equipment. - Pool. They claim it is maintained. Ok. In the summer it is shaded by the buildings making it cold and uncomfortable. - Car Wash does not work and has not for almost a year. Somebody stole the copper pipes to the hoses, but the complex hasn't fixed the issue. - The weight room has been robbed of the "state of the art" equipment. It has not been updated or replaced in years. Empty weight racks and broken machines does not still mean state of the art. - Bark Park (the little dog parks) are not maintained, full of poop, dirty and disgusting. They don't allow any sunlight so there is no grass or landscaping. Its just a nasty muddy area. - Trash. The dumpster out front is never maintained. The trash is piled over the top of the dumpster, across the sidewalk, and into the street. It is not collected enough to keep it from over flowing. That shows you how cheap and negligent the management is, because it is right outside their office. - Pipes are starting to burst in the ceilings regularly now. GET RENTER'S INSURANCE! - For the current residents - Notice how your water bill keeps increasing and the water leaks all around the front parking lot and in the parking garages. RENT KEEPS INCREASING. The quality of the complex decreases.... The answer is move out or do not move in. Regular updates and upkeep could allow this to be a phenomenal community. None of the things listed are out of the question. It simply means that somebody needs to care and do their job. DO YOUR JOB.
