and it was a beautiful place at the time. Most of the residents had been there for years and it was a very safe community. Unfortunately the thugs from the Southside decided to move uptown and the place went to hell in a hand basket almost overnight. Right before I moved a resident across the hall from me was stabbed to death. Sometimes I would get on the elevator in the evening and it would be filled with several black slackers. Many times they would make a reference about the "white" woman being scared to ride with them, etc I couldn't move out fast enough!! I don't understand how these people afforded to live there since there was no obvious signs of them working. I surmised they lived there with government assistance. Like the old saying goes....let one move in and there goes the neighborhood!
