Defoor Village: Peace and Safety
My Peace of mind and safety is more important than any of the complaints that I've read about Defoor Village. I love coming home to a place that isn't crazy. So far there hasn't been any breakins which I have had happen to me twice at other properties in Atlanta since 2007. I truly feel I can come home and close my door and close my eyes without worrying about something happening to me. It's quiet. On occasion you get someone who plays their music a bit loud, but that's not Defoor's fault people don't use good judgment. As for maintenance I have not had any major problems. What maintenance I needed was minor and the repairs done. When it comes to the asthetics I don't think they are that bad. It's a complex that has had it's share of tenants and there is wear and tear on any building. For the most part Defoor Village is kept up. It's not a dump. I like the staff. They are personable and friendly. It's hard to remember everyone. As far as I'm concerned I don't need to see or deal with staff because if I did that means we have a problem. To me no news is good news. I guess since I've been a renter for most of my life I'm to a point where I don't allow the small things get to me. We all expect five star living and it's just not the norm when it comes to apartments. I've said it once and I'll say it again, people will not treat a dwelling the same way you would. As for the property owner's squeezing every dime out of a tenant, you'd be hard press to find one that doesn't. I've been hit with cleaning bills, crazy move out fees you name it. They have found various loopholes and ways to pad your bill. Unfortunately it's business and everyone is following suit so get ready for that wherever you live. Overall I'm happy living here. I feel lucky because I've been in some dumps and Defoor Village is not a dump. It has some years on it, that doesn't make it a bad place to live. I don't want to say it's perspective because I see a thing here and there too, but some expectations just aren't realistic when you are dealing with properties that are more than 10 years old. If you have ridiculous maintenance issues they will address them. Things can be worked out and they do try.5/25/2012
