Resident 2014 - 2015

1/9/2015

I have lived here for nearly a year now, and everything before October was peachy keen. We were ecstatic to move in here because our rent was only $799/mo with water included, for a 1100 square foot town home. It was a much better deal than all neighboring complexes. We lived in peace and quiet (except for the two shootings/deaths that occurred right when we moved in), dealing with a mediocre management staff in our moderately awesome apartment. That was fine with us. Then things started to change. We got a new management company, and new staff in the office. The office staff before was relatively nice, a little dismissive, but decent to deal with. These new people are like...robots. They are very willing to help you if your problem is easy, but heaven forbid you get angry because they promised to do something and then didn't. It's like dealing with a bratty younger sibling. So, October. I called because, right before Halloween, we had a bit of a cold spell. I noticed that the downstairs of my apartment was SIGNIFICANTLY colder than the upstairs. So, one day I looked at the doors that lead to the outside of the building. I can see light through both the front and the back doors. Immediately, and I stress RIGHT AWAY, I called management. They told me, sure, no problem, we will have someone come out. Then nobody came. For weeks. I eventually had to go in to the office to pay rent, and I asked them about my maintenance order for new weather stripping to be put on our doors. They said "it's being processed". I told them I wanted them to call the head of the maintenance staff to the office so I could talk to them, because they couldn't give me any information. When he came and I asked HIM about the door, he told me that I was getting a totally new door! I said, "Wow, thanks! That's awesome!" This was in the middle of November. Middle of December rolls around and it literally hurts me to walk on the wood floors in the morning. I have to wear shoes and socks in order to prevent foot pain (and I am not an older person, I don't have arthritis at all). My family has also decided to come spend Christmas with us, and my brother had volunteered to sleep on the couch downstairs. I called maintenance again and asked what was happening with the door. I was told that the door would be installed on Monday. WEDNESDAY rolls around, no door. I see the maintenance men on the way home one day, I stop, I ask them about the door. "It will be installed by the middle of next week", they say. This went on until, well, now. I STILL don't have a door. Do you know how cold it was this morning? 10 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. 10 DEGREES. I would be willing to bet that the downstairs of my apartment was no warmer than 20 degrees. I had to wear a heavy coat and two pair of socks just to stand down there and cook breakfast, before I retreated upstairs to eat to escape certain hypothermia. This has all been insanely frustrating and, frankly, ridiculous. Want to know the best part? I believe that they installed my new door on the wrong apartment. I believe that apartment 274 got the new door, instead of 272, because I still don't have one, but all of my neighbors do. I am so shocked that a group of people could be this incompetent that I can't even be angry anymore. I just can't wait to leave. For your sanity, just don't live here. It used to be fine when it was a little sketchy and the office staff was only mildly pleasant, but nowadays it's just...terrible. I'm sure the apartments will be very beautiful and decently priced, but should you ever require the use of your toes on your downstairs floors, just avoid this place like the plague.
