Resident ā€¢ 2010 - 2011

One thing I did like was the fact that no one who has trouble with the law is allowed to live there. The area I lived in (the 600 building) was fairly quiet. I could hear the Roswell street traffic, especially in the early morning starting around 6am, but if that's the time one gets up, it doesn't matter. The building is old and you can tell the maintenance was sloppy.During the winter a lot of water seeped into the walls. When things dried out during July, all of the walls developed cracks. By August, I couldn't even close the patio door on my unit. The bath tub was spray painted rather than cleaned up. I thought that was a little tacky. For the price, it was an okay place to live. I had good neighbors that didn't make a bunch of noise. The walls didn't have insulation between them, so you could hear them a little, but again, for the price, if was okay. The water bill is divided and charged to the whole building. So if someone takes and hour shower every day, while another person conserves water, everyone pays the same. Due to my job, I lived there one week per month, but I was charged a portion of the entire building's water usage, not just my usage. They could put in water meters, but that would cost THEM some money. My overall experience living there was good. They went out of their way to make my move in experience pleasant. They even replaced the rug for me. I appreciated that. The one thing that pissed me off and this is what affected my overall scoring of the place, was the office personnel. I've paid my bills on time for over 40 years, but in the year I was living at Jasmine apartments, I was considered late paying my rent two times. On one occasion, their address changed and my automatic payment went to the wrong address. I was blamed for their address changing. They didn't send out a notice updating the residents of the change. They just charged a late fee when checks didn't arrive in time. The second time, the automatic payment went to their other office and I was blamed and charged a $75. late charge. The late fee was later withdrawn when they realized it was their mistake. But, in their eyes, everything is the tenant's fault. They are never to blame. They never do anything wrong. If I didn't run around and try to fix it, so sad, too bad was their attitude. They didn't get their money so I must of done something wrong.I would still be there now, renewing for another year, but after this last incident, there is no way I'm going through that again. I can imagine they have heard every excuse in the book on why a tenant's rent wasn't paid on time, but they need to treat every incident as if the tenant is telling the truth and work with the tenant to resolve the issue. If it turns out the tenant is lying, then treat the tenant as a liar, but until that happens, treat the tenant as telling the truth and work to resolve the issue.
