Resident 2012

Worst Place Ever!!

On weekend summer mornings they have a Spanish speaking clown with a microphone singing and playing kid games on the deck outside, that does not bother me. But when its so loud it sounds like they are in my living room when I just got home from work and I need to sleep, it gets tiresome. When I was finished signing everything and got my key, they had never given me a gate code to get in. The gates are usually open anyway but they aren't supposed to be. When I needed to use my gate key it didn't work. I also asked about how my friends get in when they aren't with me. They told me my number is long distance so they couldn't use my phone number as the gate code. I had to haggle with them about giving me a four number pass. I was like how can I get me or anyone else in here with out it??? Finally a few weeks later they gave me a gate code. Then I noticed one of the burners on the stove wasn't working so I thought maybe it wasn't in correctly. I took it out of its plug and put it back in, it sparked at me. I called maintenance, it was hours before they closed but no one got contacted me. I had to work and knew I wouldn't be awake when they got here. Even though I had asked several times for them not to walk into my house, I somehow knew they would, so I changed the dead bolt. I live alone and it would scare me to have a stranger in my house. The next day when I woke up I called the office. They said they sent someone out but couldn't get in. I said yes, because I asked several times that I am home and awake when you come into my house. They sent him out to fix it but it was never fixed. They came out about three times for that and never resolved the problem. While they were here for the stove I also showed them the light switch next to the door sparks when I flick it on. Scary and not safe, they never showed any interest on that and he acted like I never said anything about it. My first water bill was $35, that is about normal. When I was signing the lease, I explained to the manager who was working with me that I didn't want rent and water to equal more than $800 a month, so he made my rent $749, because no single persons water should ever be over $51. Sounds good. Then my bill shot up to $69 then in the 70's, this month its $73. I noticed my bathtub was leaking bad and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to shut off. I called maintenance. They came out several times because it wouldn't stop leaking. The maintenance manager said you shouldn't even worry about this leak, its not going to change anything. Why? I asked, he said everyone else in this complex has the same problems and it's divided by how many bedrooms per unit. I have a two bedroom, so since the neighbors don't care, I have to pay for them? I was not told this moving in. I called them about it a few times. They said they couldn't do anything, call the water company. I called the water company, they said the apartments handle that. Stuck!?! The garbage area is constantly over flowing inviting rodents. Kittens live in there, my neighbors and I both saw raccoons near my car. I also saw an opossum and I managed to get a picture of it from my balcony. Not only is the garbage disgusting, there are animals that could cause harm to anyone living here. Since I go to work at night and get home in the morning its scary to think one could run up on me. The parking is a major issue. We have assigned parking which I like, but the lot is on a tilt to where the red Dodge Durango's door slams into my car. The lady who drives it noticed me checking out the damage one day when she pulled in. She speaks broken English so it wasn't very easy to understand. She said her kids do it but she has been letting them out at the door, not true, the gouges grew when I was sick for a few days. She also said she tried talking to management, as did I, and they won't do anything about it. Since no one is using the spot on the other side of me, and my car is only a year old, I began taking both spaces, to not damage my car any further, and to not stress out my neighbors. January 19th 2012 a letter with my apartment number was hanging in a bag on my door knob. When I opened it there was a picture of my car and a letter stating I was breaking the lease agreement by taking those spots. No one is assigned to that spot, but I didn't argue, I just moved my car back into the assigned spot and only that one. Saturday morning my car was hit with $1600 worth of damage from a moving truck trying to turn around in that spot. It was a hit and run. But the truck was still out front, I could tell by the height of the gouge, also the markings by the rear wheel well that it had to be that vehicle. If I had left my car parked the way I was parking the damage would never have occurred. A month or so ago I received a similar letter. It stated that my loud barking dogs were causing a noise ordinance. I don't have a dog. I began feeling harassed. On October 20th 2011, a young female was sexually assaulted in the same building I live in. There was caution tape, police knocking on my door asking if I knew anything. It happened right after I had fallen asleep that morning so I didn't hear a thing. The police were blocking the entire front of my apartment and delayed my leaving for work on Friday. The apartments didn't even inform us on what was going on, the police officer said someone was injured. I think I have the right to know whats going on outside my door. Now I am also scared to live here. Three weeks ago I was warming some pizza in the microwave, an amenity that came with my apartment. It made a really loud pop noise. I looked inside to see if I had put metal in there or something on accident. I didn't, also it would have left a black burn on the inside, but there were no marks. I took my pizza off the plate searched, nothing. I put it back in the microwave because it still sounded like it worked. After four minutes and the pizza was still cold so I called maintenance. They said too bad, we are now replacing them with hoods. My amenities said I should have a microwave, not a hood, besides there isn't enough cupboard space for a microwave. I spoke with some neighbors who said they were promised a microwave also but when they moved in they had a hood. Their car was also hit and run in this parking lot. Even though as I signed my lease, and every time I called them, I asked that they do not open my door unless there is blood. flood, or fire, they have attempted several times. I am a female who was raised in Flint, Michigan, and I live alone. It scares me to have strangers in my home when I am unaware, asleep, or not home. I don't feel safe that way. I am definitely not comfortable, or safe, or taken care of, in this apartment. I also have never made a late or short rent payment. It baffles me to think they would like a tenant that pays, and on time, to not live here. Wouldn't it be cheaper to take care of your tenants like you are supposed to, rather than pay to renovate the entire apartment every year. To top it off, they shouldn't even have gates. Seven or more cars can get through on one opening and cars pull all the way in so the next person in has to let them in. That also scares me since I have no idea if that is the person that molested that little girl, or if they even live there.

We appreciate honest assessments of our community and performance. We strive to improve on a daily basis, and although as people we may fall short of some residents expectations, we learn from our mistakes and continue to work towards a better community. We ask all of our residents to not change their locks. The office needs to have a copy of your door key in order to perform work orders. When a work request is reported by a resident, we jump into action and are usually in the apartment home within 24 hours, but in order for a great maintenance team such as ours to perform their duties residents need to allow access in the home. If you dont allow access we cannot complete your requests. Utility bills come from the companies that provide those services. The Falls at Sandy Springs distributes literature throughout the year to assist in power and water conservation, but ultimately utility bills come from the city or the respective power company and the office has little to do with them. Everyone at move in is explained how utilities are billed and how they can change on a monthly basis. We are happy to provide a gated community for our residents. Sometimes certain individuals refuse to follow our posted rules and will try to follow a car into the community even though our signs specifically say not to. We all want to live in a world where people follow all rules and laws, but until that day comes we will continue to do our best. Thank you for your feedback! Your comments help us to improve and continue to be a great place to live.
