Resident ā€¢ 2011 - 2012

3/8/2012

Please read before moving here....

Here was my experience in a nutshell: -The model apartment looked great, the people at the desk seemed nice but about one week before I moved in the troubles began. - One week before my move in date (after I already had services going to that address for my move-in date) they tell me the person refuses to move and I don't have a place to live. When I called them back, the one lady told me the other one helping me was "on the phone and busy" so I drove down and well, she wasn't on the phone or busy it was very obvious they didn't want to deal with this situation. They offer me a place inside the gate that was bigger for the same price but I don't have a local number so letting guests inside has always been an issue. -Two months later, I could start to smell cigarette smoke from the previous tenant. It was getting stronger and I could smell it on all my clothes. They offered to Ozone machine it, but they didn't know how to use it properly because I had to move elsewhere for apprx 2 weeks and let my windows open the entire time to air out because I was getting headaches from the lack of oxygen in the air. They had it on way too long for the size of the apartment. They also refused to replace the carpets and did a shotty job at cleaning them. I had to hire professionals to get the smells out of my furniture and mattress, which still didn't really work because the smell never really went away just got more manageable because I sprinkle the carpets weekly and use Glade freshners like crazy. Why did I stay? Because it was going to be $3000 to cancel my lease which trapped me in me regardless that they put me in a place like this. -My car got scratched down to the metal because there is free for all parking and a lot of kids. - There are bugs, really funky looking bugs. I also saw a cockroach only a few weeks after being here (on the vaulted ceiling that I couldn't reach of course). They spray but my boyfriend was here when they sprayed and said they really didn't do a thorough job and I still found bugs after that. So, I bought bug spray, did it myself and haven't seen any since. - I have to call maintenance what seems like all the time. They do show up the day you call them which is nice. However, it was ironic that within one month of them doing "preventative maintenance" I've had to call them to replace the washer hose, they had the wrong fire detectors installed, the shower broke and my AC had to be fixed. -Now that I'm almost done with my lease, they sent me a note saying according to their records, my lease ends on a date that is actually 3 weeks prior to what my lease says. They also require 60 days to say your renewing or terminating BUT had that date they said have been accurate, I would have missed the 60 day period and would have had to pay another months rent. Catchy, isn't it? -The staff has attitude as if they are doing you a favor to help you and it's a shame I've had to call their corporate office just to get them to shampoo my carpets from the smoke smell that has inhibited all of my clothing still to this day. I realize that bad reviews can sometimes be thought of as a fluke but I honestly am using this as a learning experience of what to ask for when looking at future homes and how to deal with difficult people. This apartment has been the first time in my life I've ever felt the need to write a bad review.
