I am a thorough believer in reading reviews on things before buying them. In this case, here is my brief review of living here for 4 months so far.
Pros:
The management team has always been courteous and quick to respond to maintenance requests. Maintenance frequently comes within a day of calling them, at most a week.
Very quiet neighborhood, the building I'm in seems to have a lot of families. Every once in a while, I can hear my neighbors below me slam doors, but that's not the leasing office's fault.
The location is perfect. Just off of Barrett Parkway, 2-5 minutes to Target, Publix, and all other shopping centers. The mall is only 5-10 minutes away, depending on traffic.
I've never had any break-ins or car break-ins, and haven't heard of anyone else having that happen to them, either. I still keep self-protection on me at night though, just to be safe.
The renovated kitchens are nice, with fake granite style countertops and black appliances. No complaints there.
CONS
Now this is a MAJOR con for me, that I feel I must mention. Yes, there is DEFINITELY a bug problem. And it is disgusting. I have called to have my place sprayed three times, and yet there seems to be no effect. I have actually had to close my A/C vent in my bedroom because if I leave it open, it's just a matter of time before I see a spider, millipede, house centipede, or other creature come scuttling through. Look up photos of house centipedes on google if you're brave. Those will be your new unexpected roommates. Recently, I went to take a bath, and the second the water hit the drain, a massive house centipede came crawling out the drain. SO not a fun thing to see while naked and vulnerable. I will say that the lady at the management office was quite concerned and polite when I raised this issue to her. But frankly, there is not much she can do but be polite, the bugs will still come. NOTE: my apartment is kept extremely clean, never any garbage left out, the carpets frequently vacuumed, and the counters wiped with bleach.
Insulation doesn't seem to be very good. We keep our A/C at 75, but it feels more like 78--and those 3 degrees really make a difference! In order to keep from sweating, we've had to close the A/C vents in the living room and dining room, so that more air can be dedicated to our bedrooms.
Apartments are clearly a bit older, with small bedrooms and bathrooms. We have a three bedroom, the shared bathroom is super small.
All in all, I personally would not recommend this apartment to others. If they could just get rid of their absurd bug problem, these apartments would be perfect! However for now, for just a little bit more, you could find yourself a really nice, newer apartment without such a bug problem.
