Yes, we lived here for almost 4 years, and yes, we are absolutely glad that we made it out alive. The roaches were unspeakable. We would spray Raid into the coil on the back of the fridge, and hundreds would pour out. We would turn on the stove, and they would come out of the knobs. We had roaches set up residence in our microwave, alarm clock, and 3 different coffee pots. We sprayed Raid into the screw holes in our dining room table and chairs and roaches poured out of there too. The management did get a new exterminating company recently, and the roaches did subside, but not completely. The new thing, however, is the gunfire, which goes off just about every night. A homeless man was shot to death in the parking lot in August. Kids stampede around in the breezeways all hours of the day and night. Car windshields are busted out almost everyday. Cops and ambulances are a regular sight. The apartments are falling apart, and shoddy repairs are being done. During the floods of '09 our kitchen ceiling started leaking, and it was never fixed. One neighbor spent a month without a shower, and his faucet was replaced with a PLASTIC one. There are "laundry facilities" in each building-that is, if they work, or are not filled with what looks and smells like sewer water, or you don't have to wash your clothes in cold water, only hot. And don't dare leave your clothes unattended! Our sheets were stolen out of the dryer when we had to run out. We stayed because we did not have the money for a better, more safer apartment. Surprisingly, we were able to buy a house cheaper. I feel sorry for those on a tight budget having to rent, especially in a place like this.
