Resident 2012 - 2014

12/18/2014

Stone Brook has been a great place to live! My spouse and I have lived here for two years now. We lived in a one bedroom apartment here, and then moved to a two bedroom apartment when we had our baby. If you're LDS, the student married ward doesn't have many kids. My spouse and I have been contemplating moving because our baby will be the only one in nursery. We've looked around at different apartments but we love it here so much, we're going to stay. Noise. We've lived on the first floor the entire time--in the one bedroom apartment and the two bedroom apartment we currently live in. We prefer the first floor because it's easier to get in and out with a baby. However, living on the first or second floors has its cons. You can always hear when the neighbors above you are home. It totally depends who's living above you. Once we had a single guy living above us and we hardly ever heard him. Now we have a newlywed couple above us and we can hear them chasing each other around the apartment. Kind of annoying. It's their feet that you hear more than anything else. You can only hear their voices if they're yelling (unless you're in the bathroom and then you can faintly hear their talking mumbled through the vent). When you're in the bathroom, you can ALWAYS hear when someone above you is going pee. Since the apartment is pet friendly, you might want to ask if the neighbors above you have a dog. Our neighbors had a puppy that yapped and howled every second the couple was gone and you could hear it loud a clear. Thank goodness they got rid of it after a week. I realize noise comes with apartment living, but if you want a truly noise free environment, request the third floor and you'll be set. Grounds. We lived here before it became "pet friendly" and then my only complaint was that the leaves and grass clippings would always end up on the doorstep. Seemed like the yard workers blew the junk into the stairwells instead of out of it. Now that it's "pet friendly" there seems to always be dog poop on the grass. People are lazy. Maintenance. One thing I love living here is how quickly maintenance responds. Within 24 hours you'll have someone to fix your leaky faucet, change your air filter, fix a door that won't shut ect. They're fantastic. When it snows, sidewalks get shoveled really early in the morning and the parking lot gets plowed. Staff. Management here is amazing. They're respectful, kind, friendly and respond to complaints quickly. I complained about the dog poop issue and the very next day they passed around fliers on everyone's door reminding them to clean up after their dog or there would be a fine. Although it didn't seem to help the dog poop issue, I appreciated that my voice was heard. Upper management. I don't understand why rent keeps going up. Things are getting older, not newer. Our carpet is pretty bad, and they're re-doing the first floor apartments with laminate flooring. However, they don't re-do it until you move out of your apartment. We'll be here for another year with old carpet, but as soon as we move out there will be some lucky tenants with new flooring. Just kind of unfair. Amenities. The exercise facility is super convenient, open 24/7 with your key. We love that we have a washer and dryer in our own apartment. Vaulted ceilings, spacious kitchen, good sized rooms, and covered parking for one car. Overall, we love it! The noise from neighbors above and the dog poop are really my only complaints.
