Resident 2011

6/21/2011

It seems great at first

My husband and I moved into Hickory Ridge Apartments in May 2010. We were so excited about the apartment and loved it. We were told at move in that the bathroom tub off the master bedroom need to be refinished because the plastic was coming off. We were informed at move in that we could not be in the apartment or our pet when the tub was repaired because of the toxic smells. We were asked to let the main office know if we would be out of town for a weekend and they would refinish it. Well we lived in the apartment for a year and the bath tub finish peeling off didnt really bother either of us, so we never asked the office to fix it. Parking was also terrible. The same lady blocked me in multiple times and made me late for work on several occasions. I left her letters on her car and informed the office. Nothing was ever done. I also complained to the office because the lady downstairs was smoking in the hallways and the laundry room. I was informed that tenents can smoke in their own apartments but not in the hallways. This was never addressed with the women and she continued to walk around the apartment complex smoking. When I brought it up again to the office and I was told to close my air vents or put dryer sheets in them to help with the smell. Well thats all fine but what were we to do when it was 100 degrees out and we need our vents open for air. We moved out of the apartment at the end of May 2011 because Hickory Ridge kept raising our rent. We started out at 625 for a two bedroom two bathroom with a balcony. In one year time they raised the rent to 725.00. I wanted to make sure that we did not get a huge bill at move out for repairs. I filled in all the nail holes in the walls, cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen floors on my hands and knees and vaccumed the apartment twice after everything was moved out. I scrubbed everything in that apartment. Today I received a bill in the mail for almost 400 dollars for repairs. I would tell everyone looking here not to do it. If you have to rent here fill out the moving inspection with every little detail and take pictures at move in and when you move out. Either way they will find way to screw you over in the end.
