Email below will sum up our experience which has NOT been good thus far: Christi, Hello to you and welcome to Governors Square! You may or may not be aware of our issues/concerns that we have had with apartment 1784. My apologies, you have inherited this MESS - and none of this is directed at you personally. Please see the recap below: ? No recycle bin, rental agent acknowledged this and agreed to order us one to be in the unit before we moved in. Never arrived, after many calls and emails I received a note that your office will have to pay $45 + shipping for us to get a new one. Resolution, someone from the office was going to get one from an empty unit and deliver it to us....STILL waiting for that to happen. I believe we pay a monthly trash/recycle fee ($15 per month) that should cover the cost of a recycle bin?! ? All light bulbs and batteries needed to be replaced when we moved in (i.e. outside of the apartment and inside) - we replaced all of them when we moved in. ? ANTS - we took care of this problem ourselves; I didn?t want chemicals to make us or our pets ill. ? Back door does not lock - this was a known problem before we moved in - the rental agent acknowledged that the lock was broke, and that it would be fixed prior to moving in. Of course is wasn't and at this point we DON'T want them attempting to fix it! We won't be here long enough to be bothered with it (and we can't afford more time off). Just want you to know we didn't break it and so it can be addressed once we move out. ? Leak under the sink in the kitchen; this happened the first time we ran the dish washer. My dear husband, Chris, left work early to allow the maintenance crew access to resolve the situation. This was obviously a previously known problem since the wood in the bottom of the cabinet is VERY warped. Maintenance person also commented and acknowledged that fact. Issue has been resolved. ? Air conditioning not working. Chris, left work early to allow the maintenance crew access to resolve the situation. Issue has been worked on but not resolved to our satisfaction, Freon was added. However the upstairs is still very HOT. A team member of your group suggested we close all of the vents downstairs to help cool the upstairs. After consulting with your team to confirm it is acceptable we've installed a ceiling fan in the upstairs master bedroom. Even with the air conditioning on, the ceiling fan on and 4 additional fans running all of the time the apartment is still very warm; and it isn't even summer yet. We've inquired about a window air conditioning unit, if we can install one, and have been told NO. Do you have any other suggestions? I personally DON't like to be hot! ? Leak from the sewage drain from the upstairs toilet (dining & family room carpet flooded). This started Mother's Day. I placed an emergency call (my turn to call Chris was feed up with calling your office and dealing with the office/maintenance team). We received a call back, we were told this was not an emergency someone would be at our unit 8am Monday. This time it was my turn to miss work. No one showed up - I called the office, finally someone came around 9ish. Helped him attempt to determine where the leak was coming from (i.e. I was flushing the toilet, running water in the sink, and the tub to trouble shoot the leak). Wax ring was replaced in the upstairs toilet. Carpet was cleaned a few days later (someone needed to be home and miss work - Chris of course). After a day or so it was obvious the leak was NOT repaired; temporary solution was to turn off the water to the second toilet upstairs. More time off for Chris while an outside plumbing firm attempted to trouble shoot the problem. Proposal submitted, waiting on authorization, parts ordered, repairs finally done (Chris off work again), carpets to be cleaned again (Chris off work again). This major issue was finally resolved this week ? (4) four weeks after my initial call. Again this was a previous issue there are many poorly patched wall areas within our unit as a result of previous leaks. We rented the unit in early April, physically moved in on Friday, April 24th - we have a short term lease (6 months) while we are building a home. Obviously we have pets - dogs, they are friendly family members, and we pay EXTRA rent for them to live with us! As well we are environmentally friendly (like to recycle, not fond of harsh chemicals, etc.). I have asked that we (actually my husband, Chris) be notified before any person enters our apartment so the fur babies are not let out. One of the maintenance crew mentioned he is a bit afraid of dogs. So no one feels unsafe, Chris or I will place the dogs into a secure room while service is being performed on our unit. Our requests (calls, emails, and visits to the office) have fallen on deaf ears; maintenance personnel don't arrive on scheduled dates or time, and just show up whenever they want. We've provided cell numbers and emails (it should be noted in our file that Chris does not work on Tuesdays), what more can we do to ensure we, our fur children, and the repair personnel are safe? Lastly, how do you plan to compensate us for the inconvenience to our lives (stress, missed employment, mess, dry wall dust, soaked carpet, etc.)? We've had to move our furniture multiple times for repairs, carpet cleaning, etc. As well, for a month (3) rooms (living room, dining room, and second full bath) that we have paid rent for have been in the state of repair and unusable to us. We believe it is fair that we compensated by receiving our next month?s rent FREE.
