Don't even entertain this place...

Victoria, I am very angry. I received a detailed bill in the mail for the apartment that I vacated and a check for 55 dollars from JC Hart. In the charges section, I see a charge for "extra cleaning on w/d floor grease." I'm not exactly sure what was on the floor of the washer and dryer room but it was gross. Yes, 25 dollars, I'll eat that. Second, I find a charge for "removed pet damaged carpet" for 125.00. Let me just say that the spots that were on the carpet when we moved out were on there throughout the entire lease. We, like you, had somebody clean the carpet so the spots would go away temporarily. I guess you notice those types of things when you get the apartment back from a tenant but it's okay to not notice them when you lease out the apartment. I don't know... all I know is that we didn't mark them down on the walkthrough sheet because they weren't there when we first obtained the keys to the apartment. That 125.00 is a rip off... much like that apartment. Third. I find a charge for a replaced door blind. I understand that but I have never lived in an apartment where they charge you for something like that. Fourth. I'm not sure what "Seal floors" means... but I'm being charged 75 dollars for it. If that's what you charge for having the floors replaced, that, too, is a rip off. Those floors were old, ugly, cold, and NOT the floors that were in the model that you showed us. They should have been replaced at no charge to the tenant. If that's not what the $75 dollars is for, then, please tell me what it was for. So, out of the 300 dollars worth of deposits, I'm only getting back 55. I'm sure I should be grateful that I'm not having to pay extra and that it's just enough to come out of the deposit. I would think that out of all of the trouble that I have had in that apartment with staying up at night because of FREEZING temperatures in the winter and sweating through the night because my air conditioner didn't work in the summer, I should be granted a bit of leeway with my deposits. EVERY SINGLE apartment manager that I talk with just looks at me in amazement when I tell them I'm being charged 300 dollars for my electric bill and the thermostat is registering 57 degrees in the middle of the night because I don't have any heat coming down to floor level. If a fan would help with the heat and cathedral ceilings, great... fantastic. But I SHOULD NOT have to pay for the fan because not being able to get the heat where the tenant can actually feel it is the landlords problem!!! Come on, Victoria. Seriously. To tell you the God's honest truth, I moved out of that apartment because I hated it. Everybody who lived there was constantly in a bad mood. The carpets were ------ (as stated earlier), we had no heat and air conditioning, and the electric bill was 300 dollars!!!!! Would you stay!?!?!?! I looked at Stonebridge because I thought they were nice. Once I found out that JC Hart manages that property, I walked out the door. I'm telling everybody that is thinking of moving into one of your properties or apartment managers who have tenants who are thinking about moving into one of your properties I'm having say, "please... please don't. You will regret it... and not because my apartment complex wants your money... you just will get ripped off!" I am at Overlook at Valley Ridge... the place I called home before I went to Bayshore and the place I never should have left. Our moods are better, we are happier... and what's more... WE ACTUALLY FEEL THE AIR CONDITIONING. When it's winter, I'm sure we will actually feel the heat, too. Both novel concepts, I know! Victoria, I'm not expecting a message back, and frankly, I don't want one. Truthfully, if I get one, I'm just going to delete it without reading it. This message is also going to corporate... I may read a response if they write back but I'm done with you guys and I thank my lucky stars everyday that I am. I guess I just want to ask you to please not rip off your tenants like you did us. They deserve better than what you gave us. Joe
